Question on RAW
 

A friend of mine send me an email telling me that a hacker hacked his pc.
The pictures of his mother who died two years ago have been converted to a system called RAW and now he can not see the pics anymore.
He told me it has something to do with Linux but I dont know anything about this stuff.
Does somebody know of a way to convert them back or are the pics lost forever?
