Clinton Portis to be highest paid running back
In a deal that clears the way for his trade to the Washington Redskins later this week, Denver Broncos tailback Clinton Portis reached agreement Monday on a contract that makes him the highest-paid running back in league history, ESPN.com has learned.
Portis will sign an eight-year deal that is worth $50.5 million and includes $17 million in combined signing and option bonuses, several league sources confirmed for ESPN.com. Damn.... |
I am from D.C. and a diehard fan. Two years ago I said Spurier was going to be the Rick Pitino of the NFL. Now Portis is going to be the next Denver rb to leave and go nowhere. You guys remember Olandis Gary? He can't even start in Detroit and they suck!!! This is just another cap breaking signing "The Daniel" is going to cripple the team with.

Why the fuck would you trade Clinton Portis is beyond me. Who's the next Denver running back and I bet he won't be half the back Portis was. But I'm a Raiders fan so I say hey great trade! Jake the Snake at QB and no RB, I like Denver's chances next year already.

I agree, I have no idea why they would trade away one of the best young running backs... :( |

Also, don't be surprised if Portis is finished within 5 years.........he's another Gayle Sayers........incredible moves.......will score 5 TD's on you in a game (right KC?) but then sit out a few games in a row after being winded and landing on the ball...... Bottom line? Incredible running back, but not durable. Bailey will be the Broncs corner for 10 years. Thats the trade-off, and Shanahan knows this. |
Will the former sooner be starting for denver?

Gibbs is back things are changing as a running back you better get that paper life span is short..
