Up all night playing Vice City
 

Anyone else love this game? Got it for Xbox with component cable input on my 65 inch TV. Feels like I'm right there in the city!

Anyone have favorites that are similar that I should check out?

True Crime Streets of LA for Xbox is of the same kind of genre as Vice City. Never got too heavily into it though.... so Vice City definitely has my vote over it. But worth trying out anyway :)

Try State of Emergency. It's by Rockstar as well. You run around killing people, breaking windows, destroying cars, blowing up stores, etc. It's a lot of fun when you're bored. I've played it for hours on end.

Your weapons include a taser, pepper spray, swords, hatchets, uzis, ak-47s, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, shotguns, handguns, etc. If you get off a good shot with a shotgun, you actually see the head fall off and the guy drop. Then you can pick up his head and beat other people with it. Or, you can pick up legs, arms etc.

Occasionally, the game annoucer will tell you to "SMASH OBJECTS FOR BONUS POINTS" or "BLOW UP CARS FOR BONUS POINTS".

It's great and you can pick it up for $20.

Is it just like a small, poor version of GTA though? Or are some things better about it?

You don't actually have to complete missions or anything. You can play mayhem levels where you just fuck shit up until you die. You could compare it GTA, although GTA is a game that you play in order to get somewhere. I play State of Emergency just to kill people and blow stuff up.
