No i have had anxiety for the past 2 years on and off. I need to see a shrink to give me better drugs. My regular doc is hesitant in giving me the good shit

freeadultcontent 02-29-2004 08:29 PM

I just talk to the stuffed animal in the corner. When I need therapy I just put 80.00 into the jar and start speaking. Seems to be working out real well and there is a nice wad of cash building up.

its a hell of alot cheaper.

WiredGuy 02-29-2004 08:30 PM

Google keeps talking to me in my sleep, I need help!

Panic anxiety? Been there man, it sucks. I should have seen a shrink at the time but didnt. Its been several years now and I've been fine with no drugs. I just had a bad time in my life I guess.

I hope you get well soon. Its not usually something people like to talk about. I know its embarrassing for me to talk about it.

mastamindz 02-29-2004 08:52 PM

I did when I was a young gun. For my Anxiety and Panic Disorder.

Didnt help me at all! (I helped myself later on in life)

Hey juicy...

Sorry to hear about what you've been going through. Anxiety can be a really difficult to deal with -- but, the positive thing is that it can be controlled.

And it ain't just all in your head. They've actually found that there is an independent autonomic nervous system that exists basically in your "gut" -- hence why a lot of people seem to get ulcers and other digestive problems as a response to anxiety and stress.

Cognitive therapy can do wonders for giving you some skills to deal with anxiety attacks. And it'll lessen your fear of becoming dependant on any meds to deal with them. Beyond that try to find some activities that help center you and relieve stress -- like Qi Quong, Tai Chi, Yoga...anything that's doesn't get your adrenaline going and that forces you to do some deep breathing.

Either way good luck on the hunt :)

I'm seeing a counsellor about anxiety. My advice is try it without drugs, I am going to a local university (Northwestern University) and although my counsellor is not a pychiatrist many times you can adress the problem simply discussing your particular issues. Also a diary helps identify shit. Of course it varies from one person to another but drugs often just add problems rather than solve them. :2 cents:

Effexor i am on now is bad. I forgot to take it for 2 days and on the second day I was dizzy and I had to go to bed i could not function. Crazy shit

Shoehorn! 02-29-2004 09:24 PM

Yup, I've been to 3 or 4. Don't know how helpful they were though.

integrated 02-29-2004 09:43 PM

yeah if you have anxiety the best person to see is a shrink.

i myself went a very long time ago and it wasnt for anxiety so im not sure how they treat that

but i do know that drugs are not always the only way to help solve the problem cognitive therapy may help or a mixture of the too ;)

also you may think about joining a support group.

hope you get it sorted
