1st annual FREE Fantasy Baseball League. The game will be played in a user created league on fantasysports.sportingnews.com

A little about the league:

Unlimited Amount Of Teams In The League

Salary Cap Style Game - Each team manager is given 30,000,000 Sporting News Dollars (TSND) to draft 8 players (3 pitchers and 5 hitters) who will score points for you based on how they play in real-life baseball games.

After opening day, each team will be given 2 trades/week to makes changes to their team.

League email system to allow for talking smack.

Season Starts: April 4th Season Ends: July 11, 2004

The fantasy season runs from Opening Day until the All-Star Break

League is open for teams now. You can sign up now for free and begin building your team. Your roster must be set by Tue 3/30.

yah but our yahoo league only has like 6 people so far? so whats it matter..

I still plan on playing in the Yahoo league also... however, the sporting news league will have prizes, the yahoo league won't. We have the whole month of March to recruit people to both leagues. I'd love to see both have great competition.:thumbsup

i dont get this -- so basically you can draft anyone at anypoint? and two teams can have the same players? please go more indepth about what this is about

I'll try my best to explain it better:

Each manager is given $30 million Fantasy Dollars to build their team.

You must purchase 5 hitters and 3 pitchers for your team. Your team will earn fantasy points based on what these players you have bought do each day in real life.

Also, the players' money values go up and down like the stock market throughout the season. So obviously you want to manage your money by investing in the players you feel with earn you more money.

Every player is worth a different amount for example:

Alex Rodriguez is 8.43M
so if you buy him as one of your 5 hitters, that only leaves you with 21.57M to buy 7 other players. It is all about money management and following the game to see who is playing well...


You will receive 2 additional trades weekly, inorder for you to make changes to your team.

Everyone has the same pool of players to choose from, the same amount of money to start and the same amount of trades.

3 important things:
#1 Manage your starting $30 million
#2 Manage weekly trades
#3 Earn as many fantasy points as possible
