Walter Payton

OG LennyT 02-28-2004 09:13 PM

Jim Brown kicks Sanders in the balls

2nd would be Mr Smith

3rd might be Mr Sanders or Payton

hershie 02-28-2004 09:13 PM

While I just loved the work ethic and heart and talent of Payton, Barry Sanders was the most talented player I have ever seen and did cuts and turns that left my jaw slack.

And not draw a penalty for it either.

jimmyf 02-28-2004 09:16 PM

These guys were ALL better than Barry Sanders.

Bronko Nagurski
Red Grange ( he made the NFL ) :thumbsup
Jim Thorpe
Gale Sayers
Walter Payton :thumbsup

pornstar2pac 02-28-2004 09:23 PM

walter payton was good

Paul Waters 02-28-2004 09:26 PM

Best all round, including catching was:

Eric Dickerson

:thumbsup

SoundMan 02-28-2004 09:30 PM

some say emmit smith..

i liked barry as well

SexxxyChat-T 02-28-2004 09:56 PM

Walter Payton, Emmit Smith, Barry Sanders

Spunky 02-28-2004 09:58 PM

Emmit and Sweet Feet

Murphy_Dog 02-28-2004 10:03 PM

Barry Sanders
Walter Payton
Jim Brown
OJ Simpson
Emmit Smith

In that order. If Barry had still been playing... his rushing record would never be beatin. Emmit can not stand in Barrys shadow.

Snake Doctor 02-28-2004 10:13 PM

Too many different styles of running to make a fair comparison.

As far as power backs go its got to be Payton, he was out there hitting the linebackers as opposed to the other way around.
There have been guys since who might hit harder than him, but nobody has done it for as long as he did.

As for "make you miss" backs, nobody did it like Barry.
And the fact that he put up the numbers he did while playing for horrible teams all those years makes it that much more impressive.

No way to say who is better really, it all depends on what type of game you prefer. Its like asking who's better out of Peyton Manning and Michael Vick....no way to compare them even though they're both great.

:2 cents:

vcity 02-28-2004 10:20 PM

Bo Jackson, Marcus Allen, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders...

Mike AI 02-28-2004 10:31 PM

Bo might have been the best all time if he had not gotten injured. He was an amazing athlete.

How in the fuck is micheal vick great?

Keev 02-29-2004 01:16 AM

Emmitt Smith doesnt belong in the best backs area... he ran behind the best off. line for what 3-6 years.

Athletic RB = Barry Sanders / Gale Sayers Different Era's
Powerbacks = Payton , B. Jackson

Earl Campbell

pornstar2pac 02-29-2004 05:28 AM

did Emmitt Smith retire yet? i sure hope he did

rett11 02-29-2004 06:44 AM

Barry Sanders and Jim Brown...we wouldn't even be having this convo if they both hadn't retired early. :)

sonomasnap 02-29-2004 06:47 AM

Jim Brown. Sanders could only really run on astroturf.

Ian 02-29-2004 08:22 AM

Walter Payton. Hands down.

:thumbsup

spanky part 2 02-29-2004 09:33 AM

If I was building my team I would start with Earl Campbell. Hands down. Had a shitty line in front of him and still led the league in rushing.

Sad now he can barely walk.

Joesho 02-29-2004 09:39 AM

1) walter Payton
2) Barry Sanders
3) Eric Dickerson

pornstar2pac 02-29-2004 11:54 AM

axelcat 02-29-2004 11:57 AM

RP Fade 02-29-2004 11:57 AM

Smith would have gotten my vote for 2nd if he would have known to retire 5 years ago.
