Isn't 10 meg supposed to mean 10mbit? What does the 10meg mean? 1000GB isn't 10mbit...

rounders 02-28-2004 07:07 AM

Hi ,

10 megs = 10 megabits = 3240 gigabytes or so per month of transfer.

hope that helps

rounders 02-28-2004 07:14 AM

Full dedicated + managed ded. server

latinasojourn 02-28-2004 01:57 PM

do you have a URL or ip # i can do a multi-traceroute on to check for speed and connectivity? this is a good deal if what you say is true.

thanks.

V_RocKs 02-28-2004 02:01 PM

It is a great deal if I wanted that much bandwidth... Got something with 1000 gigs? or 500?

The catch is taking the risk of doing business with a new company.

true, i would not consider moving paysites to this.

but non-critical stuff that just eats up BW (promo galleries, etc) might be worth a test.

just did a multi-traceroute.

killer fucking fast to asia, aus, and pretty good to europe. fairly low hops.

very interested now.

Rictor 02-29-2004 06:37 PM

[Brian] 02-29-2004 11:52 PM

I use this network for some of my projects and the hosting is fine. Sure it's not webair or nationalnet, but the bandwidth is good and the support is available 24/7

how much for 500 gigs, managed, with cpanel? and what kind of server would it be?
are there any setup fees? what are overage charges (per gb).
does your hosting company have a name or a website?
how long for setup?

Alex Xe 03-01-2004 02:11 AM

Well, if i right remember, http://www.svwh.net have the same offer.

Gasper 03-01-2004 02:12 AM

no setup fees

takes 10mins setup to 15 mins

if u want cpanel itll take about 30mins

chk out www.offrack.com -

hoe_vender 03-01-2004 02:39 AM

:thumbsup

rounders 03-01-2004 02:40 AM

500 gigs of disk space = 2 drives @ 190 onetime + one included already

500 gigs of transfer = just take the damn 1000 gigs :)
the price for 500 gigs is $135 , because of the special it makes 500 gigs look like shit

psyko514 03-01-2004 02:44 AM

so all servers come with a 120 gb hard drive?

stupid question, but what kind of a difference will i notice between hosting on a P4 2.66 Ghz or a Celeron 2.0 Ghz?

will it make much of a difference if i'm hosting just simple galleries? no scripts or anything.

sextoyking 03-01-2004 02:49 AM

psyko514,

with just hosting html / galleries, you would probably never notice a difference.

cgi, dbase, etc runs up the cpu, not really pics.

Of course getting 1gig ram wouldn't be bad either :)

thanks for the advice :)
i didn't think it'd make much of a difference, but i wanted to make sure.

rounders 03-01-2004 02:52 AM

If you run FreeBSD, we'll recompile the kernel for you so it can handle more hits and traffic.

Running Alot of TGP/MGP scripts is another story.

rounders 03-01-2004 03:34 AM

Forgot to mention if you need it we can swip your ips to you as well and set it up for rDNS.

Steve W 03-01-2004 03:41 AM

This looks like a pretty good deal. I'm paying $350 a month for a dedicated 1mbps server

btw I downloaded the speedtest at 377kb/s(Road Runner, Central USA)

rounders 03-01-2004 03:55 AM

Thanks .

People! Post some speed tests from some servers. the cable modems and dsl's are capped. Would like to test full-thruput!

Thanks!

If your paying $350, for 1 meg. Better join up here :)

psyko514 03-01-2004 02:48 PM

anyone host with these guys yet?

RAM is more important than processor. If you are running lots of processes, the more RAM the better.

For static HTML pages, is 512 MB of RAM enough?
