That company making any profit yet?

Now that the US economy is starting to pick up, it should be interesting what impact is on COGENT. They definitely did a lot of expansion and consolidation during the recession.

... when was the last time you heared anything negative about them ???

We have been using Cogent Banwith for over a year now and i have to say i really do not know why everyone is so against these guys???? They have been rock solid and we never had downtime (even during the NYC Blackout ) Now that they have consolidated their AS numbers all into 1 the latency on their network has gone down quite a bit (the latency on the cogent network is less than the latency our other feed from MFN)and now that they are bringing their services and PRICING to europe you can go wrong. So to all of you out there who hate Cogent bandwith (since there are so many people who listen to others opnions and not the true facts) you do not know what your missing. And their pricing cant be beat they give us 10mb for $500 . Hit me up if you have any questions.

Funky... the most recent news I heard about Cogent had something to do with them struggling to keep afloat (it was news from this year). The owner of the company was doing some creative financing or something... can't remember.

I'll try to dig up the articles that I am thinking about.


Anyway, unless cogent is planning to lower their prices again, the rest of the market has finally came down to meet them in a lot of cases.

I believe there are places now where you can get far superior connectivity for less than Cogent.

One thing that Cogent does have though is Customers. Lots and lots of customers.

When they first came out with their pricing I'm sure they made a lot of contacts from people who push big bandwidth :)

April 1, 2003 -- Cogent Communications said yesterday that it is in breach of loan covenants and may be forced to file for bankruptcy if it is unable to renegotiate its agreement with lender Cisco Systems Capital.
Cogent revealed the default in a filing with the SEC. The company said its revenues for the fourth quarter of 2002 had fallen short of minimums required by its credit facility with Cisco.... (more at link above)

We use Cogent for project with big bandwidth, and it work fine and cheap :)
