Hosting - Managed or Unmanaged?
Do you manage your own servers?
If not, how much more do you think you pay for managed servers? |
All of our servers are managed and free of charge. :Graucho
|
Management cost per server should be factored at about $100 - 250 / month depending on your level of use
|
managed, that's why I love Oxeo 100% uptime, fully managed, can't go wrong there
|
Candid Hosting.com offers management solutions based upon the needs of the individual customer, hit me up and I can cover some of the various support features available :thumbsup
|
unmanaged... it's pretty easy to manage them yourself IMO.
|
Go with Plesk and do it yourself. Pay someone when you get in trouble or to do updates.
BTW - if you are in a jam, Plesk will help for a small fee - I found them to be reasonable whe I fucked up my email. If you don't know, Plesk is a mangement tool. ? If you get to the Plesk site, they list hosting companies that offer their product. Damn, I should of had an affilaite account... |
Plesk is shit. You can't create sub domains. (in the new version it is possible)
I have a managed server. I enjoy the service and I feel save. The 200 bucks more for a full managed server is worth the money if you can't do it by youself and you want to stay in the biz. |
Hey if everyone else is promoting rather than answeirng :)
Might as well check out the best in the game! http://www.realitychecknetwork.com -- providing fully managed services for the top industry players. |
It depends on how you define managed. At some companies managed means OS updates and reboots. At others they will perform ANY support request without question immediately. The difference can be from $0.15/gb to $2.50/gb and they will both claim they are managed. You get what you pay for and it really depends on your experience level.

no such thing as free of charge. the management cost is padded to the BW. |
I'm lazy and don't like to recompile kernels.
So I outsource for :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents: per server. |
