Eurovision Song Contest 2004: 15th May, Istanbul http://www.eurovision.tv/ebu/img/bild_logo_01.jpg UK finalists announced Chris Melville For the past few years, eight songs have been previewed and voted for on the radio, resulting in just four songs in a TV final screened on a Sunday afternoon. This is in stark contrast to some of the other Eurovision nations, who hold popular televised semi-finals over several weeks involving upwards of 30 songs. Following the dismal performance and placing of last year's British entrants, Jemani, the BBC have decided to revamp their selection process in the hope of injecting fresh enthusiasm and public interest into the Contest - hopefully to entice the more well-known professionals from the music world to submit songs for the ESC. This year's TV final is entitled "Making Your Mind Up" - a good omen after the song of the same title won for the UK a couple of decades back? It will be shown at primetime on a Saturday night, on 28th February. There will be six artists taking part in the competition, all of whom were selected by the BBC. The details are as follows: "Hold Onto Our Love" Artist: James Fox "Me Without You" Artist: Haifa "With You I Believe" Artist: Haydon "It Just Gets Better" Artist: Madison Taylor "Leading Me On" Artist: Hyrise "Weekend (Gotta Work)" Artist: En-Rapture As usual, Terry Wogan will present. |

Is it Eurovision time again??? You'd think UK would just give up now...
|
I watch it every year just to bitch about the quality of the songs.
When the votes are counted I always get pissed so fucking rigged. Neighbouring countries always gives high pointscoring to eachother. Cyprus always give high points to Greece and so on. |

We sit around with the family and predict how much points each country is gonna give to other countries. Often we are not far off. Probably because the jury did not hear the songs as well... |
