4 out of every 5 Americans know that the Earth revolves around the Sun

----------

As far as you know, does the earth revolve around the sun or does the sun revolve around the earth?"

In the new poll, about four out of five Americans (79%) correctly respond that the earth revolves around the sun, while 18% say it is the other way around. 3% didn't know.

These results are comparable to those found in Germany when a similar question was asked there in 1996; in response to that poll, 74% of Germans gave the correct answer, while 16% thought the sun revolved around the earth, and 10% said they didn't know.

When the question was asked in Great Britain that same year, 67% answered correctly, 19% answered incorrectly, and 14% didn't know. :1orglaugh

I've always said that the British are fucking stupid. :winkwink:

If Bush told people that Saddam was hiding WMD's on the sun, then a large population of the US would believe him.

A lot of people have that problem. There used to be a program on Dutch television where some guy asked people on a holiday to point where they were. Mostly they were in Monaco and pointed some place in eastern russia or they were in Curacao and pointed somewhere in Scandinavia. Simply too many stupid fucks on this earth

Mike-BP 02-25-2004 04:23 PM

we don't need to locate iraq on the map, we just need to be able to program the missles to hit a map point :Graucho

Among 18- to 24-year-old Americans given maps:

87 percent cannot find Iraq

83 percent cannot find Afghanistan

76 percent cannot find Saudi Arabia

70 percent cannot find New Jersey

49 percent cannot find New York

29 percent cannot find the Pacific Ocean

11 percent cannot find the United States

TurboTrucker 02-25-2004 04:34 PM
