Do not use Omni Hotels Internet in Cancun!!!! (email)
 

I enquired about internet access for the rooms Omni Hotel in Cancun. Here is the mail I got back.

"Buenos Dias Señor Ross,

Our in-room telephones features a dataport however the internet access cost $4Us dlls per minute. I recommend you to contact your internet supplier to check if they have a local dial up number in Cancun, if so the access will cost you only .40cents per call. We are able to get for you a local number through a company named Internet Cancun, the cost of this line is $60Usd dlls per one week.
The Business Center charge $5Us dlls per 20 minutes. Open from Mon - Fri 9am - 2pm / 3pm -6pm

The thing at $60 sound ok assuming there are no further charges after you pay that fee!

Undoubtedly I will be, but I still got to do about 1 hours worth of work per day. Just something I need to do :)

Thinking about the $60 package, might have to call them up and enquire about it more.

If you want to get on the net, use and internet cafe, or come to my place, I live a mile from the Omni. :)

Last year when I was there I visited an Internet Cafe in the Hotel Zone. Pretty slow, but better than dialup. What sucked though is they had no SMTP server. :(

Yeah, the DSL is pretty slow in the HZ, the cable is good though.
