Fried routers and splitters
 

Last week lightning hit relatively close and fried my splitter. I replaced the splitter immediately and everyone in lalaland was happy again.

Then yesterday, lightning hit again, only this time it was very far away (over 10 secs from barely notable flash to thunder), and don't you think it fried BOTH my splitter AND Netopia router?

I just replaced them, but I expect I might have to do it again soon as lightning is fairly common and it seems that even the weakest charges now has a chance of frying the broadband equipment. The broadband company I am with told me this has happened to a lot of people recently, which I find a bit strange.

is there no lightning protection avaliable for that equipment
