Please help me understand this about utility companies:

Locally we have ONE power company, ONE phone company, ONE water company, and ONE gas company.

ALL of them pay for TV, Radio, and Print ads.

These idiots jack up thier rates and make our bills higher so that they can afford more advertisements. How fucking dumb do you have to be to see that this is a huge waste of financial resources? It's not like they need to sell themself over the competition. What's the fucking deal?

On the other hand...We have 3 garbage companies and I have never seen a single ad for even one of them.

The Phone company tries to sell us more services, but the others advertise for name recognition I guess.

It probably has something to do with increasing their goodwill and brandability.

We have the exact same thing. Telus advertises like crazy. But it's to get people to upgrade packages and stuff.

i get so fired up about this shit. not only do you NOT have a choice of companies (which means you have to stay with a company even if they provide shitty service) but they continuously raise prices. and basically you're just fucked if you don't like it
