Anyone notice this about Wachovia

I normally don't like the customer service at major banks. But Wachovia has really impressed me recently with their courtesy and professionalism, no fuckups, and lots of smiles, thank yous, etc.

If you are looking for a new primary bank, I'm recommending them highly.

beemk 02-24-2004 05:27 PM

never even heard of them, we must not have it here

Thanks for the recommendation....we've had it with Wells Fargo

Wachovia is primarily a lender for commercial and residential notes. Not to many branches open for public banking.

I have Wachovia too. A year or two ago, they merged w/ First Union and its been great. A lot of banks are taking their customer service overseas, but there one of the few who are still in the U.S. Last time I spoked w/ a rep I think she told me their located in New Jersey or Mass area.

Yeah, Wachovia is topnotch. It went downhill a bit right after the merger with FirstU but today they're ever so helpfull with even minor details.

Only thing that annoys we is that they keep sending me invitations to get a Visa card with them, yet they aren't able to provide it for me, since I don't reside in the US.

Rob 02-24-2004 06:21 PM

I also highly reccomend Wachovia! :thumbsup

I had a deposit issue once and all the attendants were tied up. The Bank Manager personally pulled me into her office and made NUMEROUS phone calls to track down my deposit. We finally found out what was going on after 30 minutes and 20 phone calls. That impressed the HELL OUT OF ME! Most Bank Managers would let you sit there and rot!

Go with Wachovia if they have one in your area, you won't be let down!

Heard good things about them also.

tony286 02-24-2004 06:34 PM

Wachovia has changed since the merger for the better. Before it was indifference and atitude, now its smiles and treating me like I am a old friend.

acctman 02-24-2004 06:38 PM

CitiBank, ING Direct and Bank of America might have to build my own bank or a big money bin like scrooge mcduck one day.

BofA overall I like, but I think it all depends on the area you're in. Ever went to a bank and have them tell your that they don't have enough money to cash a check? :1orglaugh Washington Mutal hehe

I couldn't agree more. When they were First Union I came very close to changing banks. They had a very elitist attitude and treated you as if you were a pauper amongst kings. If you didn't make a deposit of $1000 or more they would scowl at you as if you just killed their first born!

Now they'll smile you to an instant orgasm if you deposit $20!!! I wonder why the change? Not that I'm against it or anything.

Jellybeen 02-24-2004 07:34 PM

I used to be a First Union customer and left because it was so horrible. Really liked Wachovia.

Then Wachovia merged with First Union and it's been nothing but downhill ever since.

Those of you merging *from* FU might be seeing an improvement, but those of us mergin from Wachovia can see how badly things have been tainted by that nasty FU screw-up of a bank.
I hate it there now.

myjah 02-24-2004 07:36 PM

Wachovia made a huge fuckup in the accounts of 2 people i know. and they keep saying its corrected but it never actually is. just my :2 cents:

mpulse 02-24-2004 07:43 PM

Wachovia is kissing/kicking so much ass that Bank of America has adopted a new smiles and courtesy policy to combat it...maybe they all may be smiles soon.:winkwink:

slackologist 02-24-2004 08:48 PM

if you know of a good bank in australia, tell me about it! colonial state bank used to be great here.. now merged with commonwealth. and we all know how much they suck.

isn't wachovia also under investigation along with KPMG for using invalidated tax shelters to avoid paying millions in taxes to the IRS??

TheSaint 02-24-2004 10:47 PM

Wachovia rocks. First, they recently gave me a 10 year 4 3/8 percent first mortgage, a better deal that I found elsewhere.

Then to my surprise, they approved the mortgage with practically no documentation. In the past I have had to submit up to 50 pages in corporate tax returns and financial statements as I am self employed, but finally, a bank smart enough to figure out that if you are just refinancing when rates drop they really don't need much info to close.:)

fvurakki 02-24-2004 10:48 PM

US bank...free checking...online checking...online bill pay...

I'm happy with them :)

Must have made a turn around. I used to have several commercial & personal accounts with them and closed them all because of the arrogant fuckers that I had to deal with on a weekly basis.

Glad to hear they are offering customer service again...

Yeh, I had that when it was First Union. But Wachovia's management is doing a great turnaround job.
