Pain Relief - suggestions, what do you use?

Got some internal strain injury.
Using Co-Codamol, 2 tablets two or three times a day.
Drinking " Yakult"

What else does anybody recommend?
(I don't swallow pills)

.357 Magnum to the head.

I have migraines and live on:

Fioricet
Tylenol 3
Imitrex

Used to get demeral shots at the hosptial when a wicked one kicked in but it stopped working. :( The Imitrex is great though - just very expensive. Thank goodness for health insurance :)

angeleyes 02-24-2004 09:24 AM

Ultram, Vioxx or Celebrex

p1mpdogg 02-24-2004 09:24 AM

heroine :2 cents:

I don't know if you have them where you live but you can always take ANALgin for quick and efficient pain relief :)

Btw, do you know the blonde joke? A doctor prescribed Analgin to a blonde and after a week on analgin, she got back to him and complained it didn't work. (... blah blah blah ...). Finally the doctor understood she was taking it the wrong way so he got some analgin and wrote ORALgin on it... I know it;s a stupid joke...

cheers, but been to the doc's twice. seen two surgeons last years when it first started & seen the doc then all he did was poke my gut and made me feel like breaking him in too. It was the doc who recommended the Co-Codamol. I was told it was to do with too much smoking (abit more complicated than that) but the surgeons said it is fucking painful but goes away with time. (had this twice) It is my fault it comes back, but now I haven't smoked anything for about 7 days, with no plan to start again.

Oxycodone handles most anything.

Basic_man 02-24-2004 09:34 AM

Not cool dude! good luck with that..! Can't help you! :(

A couple of Advil and a big fat blunt usualy works for me with most pain.

kelly 02-24-2004 09:38 AM

This always sounds like nonsense but works for lots of people, get some ginger oil (boots, health food place, aromotherapy shop), put 6 drops into a hot bath and soak for at least 20 mins, this also works if you get your girl to add it into some plain massage oil and rub it in - just make sure the room is warm and you wrap up in something warm afterwards.

Thanks Kelly, will try those. forgot to mention in my first post a few ginger-nut biscuits each day seem to help.

Cool, the ginger oil really does seem to work, my ex and his mates shear our sheep every year and it kills their arms and backs, they used to rely on pain-killers but since I tried them on the hot bath/ginger trick they don't need them any more.

& thanks to: Peaches, angeleyes, LeeNoga, coolone for real suggestions :thumbsup

LOL, Aleve here. I have foot problems that cause chronic hip and back pain, I usually just bear it. I don't like taking pills so I have to be in pretty strong pain to take anything.

I think they make a Vicodin Suppository since you don't swallow pills :)

yeah, if symptoms persists, consult your doctor.

PEACHES

I have had migraines for a long time. REALLY bad ones!!! I have been on every pain killer there is, and I hate them all. They add to the nausea already there from the migraine. Years ago, a doctor gave me Anaprox, which was prescription strength Aleve, before Aleve came out OTC. I have never used anything else since then. When a major migraine hits, I pop 3 Aleve, and I can LITERALLY feel the migraine leaving...usually with 20 mins. or so. BTW, 2 and a half Aleve is equal to the same dosage as the Anaprox the doc used to give me.

Thanks Jenny! Yep, I did the Anaprox way back when and still use the Aleve when I have a small headache (which I don't even consider migraines, lol). Tylenol Sinus can also help for the small ones. But they have NO effect on the biggies :( The Imitrex is really the only thing that has ever completely helped and since it's NOT a pain killer, it doesn't make me loopy - well, MORE loopy than normal ;)
