Sony recently displayed the PS2 using a webcam to videoconference over the Internet with a webcam. The demonstration occurred at a business conference based upon the IPv6 protocol, a new Internet protocol that is planned to replace the current IPv4 protocol that has been powering the Internet since the 80s. With the EyeToy already in millions of homes worldwide, affordable video communications could be possible in the near future.
