Porn is like war

every day there are constant battles...I'm not referring to board wars.

No I am referring to things like Acacia, Visa approval..etc...etc.

Some of these battles we win...some we lose...but do you think we'll actually win the war?

Are you tired of the battles?

I kinda get tired of waking up every day only to find not just a new challenge but a new fucking battle that could very well wound someone's business...fatally.

But I'm tough...I'm in this for the long haul...you can knock my fat ass down but I'm getting back up.

That's interesting you should say that... I was just thinking last night that there is a constant level of underlying stress involved in this biz - will Google kick out all my pages, will a processor or sponsor go tits up, will my registrar jack all my domains, will my servers get hacked, ad nauseam. I guess it's just something you have to live with - you can minimize the risk as much as you can, but there's a limit to what you can do.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall...

bullshit.
I'm 37 years old and have been in both the corporate worlds and self employed and nothing is as volatile as this business has been in the past year.

Diversify, try to limit your liability for any one of your projects failing.

Never say never, don't assume that the profits you are making now are garaunteed and will last forever, keep that in mind when diversifying and try to get your eggs as far away from each other as possible.

Thats some good generic advice :winkwink:

Yeah learned that the hard way last year when I had about 90% of my eggs in one basket and the bottom fell out. :)

In fact I have many levels and steps to achieve different things.

I'm on my way...at some point I will even be splitting my business more and more between mainstream and adult.

StealThisGallery.Com is just the beginning.
So much more coming.

That's the road Im trying to hit, getting things split between adult and mainstream. Depending on the project sometimes mainstream has less barriers to entry and sometimes its the other way around. But hey if I can make a nice living off of either and have both of them churning full speed, even if one of them suddenly fails I still go tht second one to cover my ass.

Right now though its like 5% mainstream, 95% adult. Gotta get that ratio evened out some.

That's not porn, that's business.

Porn is people having sex on camera or film.

Okay the business of porn ;)

Before this industy I was involved in interior design.

Just another industry filled with back-stabbers. Got to be on your toes no matter what.

Make your money while you can, and just keep moving on.

eroswebmaster 02-24-2004 01:06 AM

But for people to say that this is "just business," they really need to get out into the world and work another job..and see that this is not how the world of business always is.

The owner of the local video store doesn't wake up every day to:

New laws being made to limit the scope of his business.

Processing companies bailing out

Sponsors closing shop and not paying their bills

Threats of criminal prosecution.

The list goes on.

Sure they experience some of this on occassions...bad shit goes down everywhere.

But this is shit we deal with daily...it's always something new..neve a dull day in the world of adult entertainment.
;)
