Is there a way to delete a crap load of mail when I run the 'mail' command on my server when logged in through SSH?

If anything it would be in /var/mail/username

and additionally using the mail command you can do

d 1 - 100000000000

which would delete the 1st 100000000000 mails :)

mail -> then at the & prompt type:

d *

or use something like mailwasher, or the bat. you can grab just the headers and you can delete them all at once while keeping the few that you may want.
