yeah i have been told that and i can appreciate it. but right now i just need a temporary fix.. i have seen some on ebay for wider angle and not sure if its a solid solution in the mean time

Wide angles for digital cameras WILL be expensive.. there are no ways to go around that..

i have seen some cool things when i went to the photography store but they get up their in price.. just more intrested in what im reading right now on ebay for wide angle stuff

Give up now, by buying a 300D you surrendered yourself to the fact that you can't have wide angle. Sorry, it's sad but true.

The lesser known fact about the 300d (and 10d, etc etc) is that the light sensor isn't 35mm but a ratio of 35mm so there's a multiplication factor on there.

So when you spend the $1400 (thats AU for me) on a nice 15mm fish eye or 1600 on a 17-40 (now THATS a nice lens) you'll end up with a 24 mm and a 27.2- 64 mm lens.

Damn, hey? That's the exact reason I went back to film.

Don't be tempted to buy a cheap wide-angle (i'm talking fisheye here) - the ones you see on ebay are very cheaply made, and you'll get a terrible amount of optical distortion around the image, it's just not worth it.

If you ARE looking for a cheaper wide angle solution for the 300D, the best bets are probably

http://bobatkins.com/photography/reviews/fisheye.html

and

http://www.seittipaja.fi/data/Pontif...T-X_17_mm.html

The last link specifically talks about the multiplication factor, but because it's mounted on a 10D it's only 1.4x.

great site thanks :) just need to find where he purchased that lens for 110 :)

quantum-x 02-22-2004 05:49 PM

probably ebay or some other sites like it.

quantum-x 02-22-2004 05:56 PM

actually jenn just bear in mind that that '28-90' you have on your 300d isn't a 28-90, but a 17-57 with the 1.6 multiplier

you are NOT going to get wide angle on a 300d.

just thought i'd let you know :D

when shooting for the web it best to fill the frame up with person. Its a waste of bandwidth to see lots of room or background. So you probably can get away without the wideangle.
