Endless money pits..just rent one

freeadultcontent 02-21-2004 07:48 PM

Boats are just holes in the water you dump your money into.

Just rent one when you want to use it.

Save your $. I used to have a 40' Cabin cruiser. Bought a lake house, now I have a private dock, 2 jet skis, and 20' crownline. And real estate is a much better investment.

Took the Kayak out today, boat is still winterized.

Do not buy a used watercraft. A nightmare. You can afford a new one, get one.

Jason 02-21-2004 08:32 PM

nice boat house..

have LAMike show you his lake house.. hehe

Real estate is totally the way to go.. I have 300k in positive in my 2 years in my current house.

I just tired of being the one not having a boat for every river trip.

nojob 02-21-2004 08:33 PM

renting a boat does make more sense. Their calue drops too quickly.
They are actually not exspensive to take out for the weekend.

Nice, but I don't think my Ranger can pull that!

Besides, It jail bait for sure. Looks like a drug runner.

BradShaw 02-21-2004 08:45 PM

Old joke about boats. Do not buy one, just make friends with someone who has one.

When I had my 40' boat, ski boat, and 2 jet skis, I was paying $2k a month + for slip rental and basic maint. Mortage on my lake house is about $2k a month. And driving a big boat is a headache, I needed Captain Stabbin!

Maybe Greg can make you a deal on a Sea Doo. 2 summer ago he took my xp, flipped it, did not properly get the water out of it. Now it is sitting at the dealership with the engine rusted and ruined. I am still taking it out of his paychecks.

Jason 02-21-2004 08:49 PM

I heard one that went..

What is the happiest day in a man's life? The day he buys his boat.

What is the 2nd happiest day in a mans life.. They day he sells it.

lol

KRL 02-21-2004 08:55 PM

Sonic's are fun as hell if you're in the market for a racing style boat. This was one of my biz partners. He just sold it and the turkey that was delivering it to the buyer took it for a joy ride and sunk it. Now they've got a lawsuit going on whose liable for the damages.

Lake Texoma, huge lake. There are boats like the one you posted, and bigger on the lake as well. Rodman had a boat out there, used to see him all the time. Lady was ran over here about 5 years ago by a speed boat, people think it was his boat, but never enough evidence to prove anything.

I will fish for anything. I would say my favorite is Salmon fishing way up north. I also enjoy salt water fishing, still waiting to catch my first marlin.

You could have have already had that if you would have worked with me.

PersianKitty 02-21-2004 11:32 PM

I had one. Ex got it in the divorce while I got the loan payment.. then he sold it 3 years later for about 60% of what it was worth.

And btw.. he never learned to dock it or maneuver at low speeds. I was the one that had to do that.. dealing with the twin engines and direction to move when the wheel is unresponsive.

Pornwolf 02-21-2004 11:49 PM

Cyber Cat! Nice. I bet a few hubbies in the marina recognized that logo when passing with their wives.

I wish there was a way to rent a 70 footer for a few months here in NY. Does anyone know of a site to find out if that's possible?

BradShaw 02-21-2004 11:57 PM

I have to admit, I had issues docking my 40' boat, expecially in the wind. All in the throttles, could not touch the steering wheel.

pussyluver 02-21-2004 11:57 PM

Damn PK - brings tears to my eyes!!! Have had several Searays - Bayliners even. Moved from IT to porn. When do I get to have a boat again?

My last wife was an attorney - that is a long story. The short version is don't do that!

It took me a bit to learn, but I had no choice. If he learned to dock it, I would be the one jumping off the transom to tie up. I was too afraid he'd make a mistake and I'd end up in the water with the boat in reverse.. propellors coming at me.

It was fun.. but not the boat I would have picked if it had been just for me. I'd prefer some get around speed versus cruising. The boat in the pics is a 36' Carver. Fun partyboat. Seating up top for 12-15 and down below for another 10.

JunkyardDog 02-22-2004 12:15 AM

I would just rent a boat here and there unless you got a lot of money and dont mind the constant repairs it will require.

Keev 02-22-2004 12:28 AM

I am like you bradshaw....

Just show me to the water and give me a fishing rod.... I'll figure out how to catch something...

I love bass fishing, saltwater, and fishing the backcountry streams for trout.

I am planning a couple trips off baja this summer lil 3-5 day trips
maybe catch some dorado and tuna if they are running good.

But this year i plan to do some fishing in Hollywood,FL.

Last show i wasnt ableto do the fishing I wanted to.
Maybe do a day on the ocean and 1 day at one of the prominant bass lakes. Love to catch some nice florida strain largemouthes!
