Fu-Q 02-20-2004 04:20 PM

Daily? for how long?? Generally, it is a fairly harmless drug overall if used occasionally, but using daily it will start to wear away at your stomache. You might want to see if there are other medications for what he wants you to use it for. Antiinflamitory for example, there are ones now that aren't harsh on the stomache like this is. Research is always the key before you take anything that might adversely effect your health.

I think the theory is it does the same thing as an asprin a day. Does he want you to take it for blood thinning reasons?

Nah.. for pain in my spine.

Ibuprofin is an anti-inflammatory as such it will thin your blood. It can be a little rough on your stomach, no more so than hot hot sauce though. Do you have a heart condition? Arthritis?

It will decrease the tendency for enflamed tissue between the vertibra. That's probably what's causing the pain.

I'm a big believer in ibruprofen. taking tylenol now that i'm pregnant but I will immediately go back to ibruprofen.

Nothing better for back pain in my experience. I have been able to avoid surgery with a combination of IB and loosing a few pounds. It can bother some guts though. I have never had a problem with it.

I love hot / spicy foods.. so I guess I'll be ok there.

They aren't sure wtf is going on with me.

Over the past 3 years I've had about 2 gallons of blood drawn, CAT scans, MRI's, Xrays.. all kinds of shit.

They've thought a lot of things & contradicted each other left and right.

The symptoms are mostly like those of lupus though I guess... but it's not lupus.

No idea, so they send me to a life of pain pills I guess. :helpme

goBigtime 02-20-2004 07:58 PM

I haven't taken it yet (the ibuprofen).

but if it makes my back feel better... woo I'll be happy :)

The thing I worry about with pills though is not knowing (via pain) if I am sitting in some messed up position that is causing more damage... because the pain will be dulled.

What I really need to do is join a gym & start swimming though.

About 3 years ago (when I first starting having all these problems) I got mono or something... some bug that stuck with me full force for like over a month, then I never really came back to full health from there.

But when I first got sick I lost about 30lbs..... mostly muscle , so muscle tone in my back is like non-existent now. I think that is probably causing a lot of problems as well.
