Film type and speed
 

For those who use 35mm film, what film and speed do you use?

Kodak ... depends on the circumstances. Tmax (400) for B/W ... Kodak Gold (400)for vacation photos but I almost quit film photography so my opinion could be outdated.

I love 35m film and I love doing B&W's I think its all the excitment of taking it to be developed and seeing the outcome

Depends on what you're planning to photograph. I think it goes something like this...

ISO 100 - outdoor & sunny
ISO 200 - outdoor, indoor with flash
ISO 400 - outdoors, indoors, just about anything
ISO 800 - low light or very fast shutter (night or action)

Oh yeah, generally faster film (higher number) has more noticeable grain. I was using Kodak Max (400) for a while, but it really sucks if you want to print anything besides 4x6" photos. Even at that size you can see the grain if there's a lot of one colour such as sky. These days I generally use 200 (trying Kodak's new "High Definition" film), or 100 if I know it's going to be a nice day.

For film, Fuji is generally balanced to enhance people's skin tones, especially people who are somewhat pale.

For people shots, go Fuji, for others, go Kodak

For chromes I recommend Fuji Velvia (sp?) - works good for me.
