Has GFY become something the other boards have not?

Over the years many message boards have come and gone. There has always been 1 main board that everyone either read, posted, or did both on. And each one of these boards only lived a short time. Whether it was due to someone leading the way to another board or technology creating something new and efficient.

Has GFY grown into something that will always live on? Currently it is more then likely the most read board on the adult net. Does it have what it takes to live forever?

One person cannot migrate the whole flock from gfy to another board. Simply because as soon as he or she leaves another poster pops up and takes over the "drama". So this part of the equation has been eliminated.

The other part of the equation that could change things up a bit is technology. But that in itself is stagnant. Nothing new is really going on and things are leveling out.

I guess my whole point to this thread is.... Has GFY become a board that is indestructible?

No one person, no one company, no one institution and definitely no one board is indestructible.

Everything has it's day.

That is true. But I most definitly think gfy has a good shot at surpassing the length of time its in the spotlight compared to boards before its time.

GFY will be around and on top for a long time I think, hey is that the quiznos sub guy in your sig?? WTF is it supposed to be?

AFAIK, the linkin park board is the only board in the world with more posts than GFY, and even that is only when they're releasing an album.

If GFY continues as is, it will be fine. If board whores and trolls are allowed to run wild and create 100 new shit threads everyday, then GFY will die out, but I dont think the mods will let that happen.

Is GFY bigger than FARK ?

I do very little adult anymore. I come here for the drama and the 1/200 wicked funny posts.

There are boards on the internet that get hundreds of thousands of posts per week. You need to check around a little more if you think GFY is the biggest board on the web.

This Anime board has 30 million posts:

Ask Rick Ynot if GFY will always be number one. :)

I think it's safe to say that GFY is larger thank FARK.

go-gaia used to be wicked slow, I wonder if its running any better now, plus thats all sig whoring over there to buy more items for your little dude or dudette.

I cant believe I just said dudette.

But yet, GFY will definitely fall apart through mismanagement if anything or until someone comes up with some kind of bright idea regarding adult msg boards. Just imagine if every day all you saw were threads from 2001? :eek7

As long as new people are welcomed into the mix here, the board can continue on. The new blood is what keeps it going on into the future.

I think that Len's idea of allowing sigs to be sold was brilliant. People have a reason to post more, read more and stay on more.

Its not sig whoring, its called selling advertising space. Some people here are more choice real estate than others....Ideas that he came up with including giveaways for hitting milestones are slick..... at the end of the day, we all stop by to see whats up here.

Just keep one eye on the past and one eye trained on the future and GFY will live on until some new comes along.....and it always does.

Nothing lasts forever in the entertainment biz. Well maybe 60 Minutes and Gilligan's Island reruns.

one of the biggest differences I see here as opposed to other boards is the business atmosphere GFY encourages. Other boards have philosophies of not spamming, being low key, not flaming, and most important.. deleting posts

I think that maybe deleting posts is one of the most unacceptable forms of board moderation there is.

I think if GFY stays accomodating to these things it will live on for a long long time
