Marketing 101 by Rick Salomon
 

I don't know if others have posted these similiar thoughts or not..but here I go.

The more I think about it, I believe Rick Salomon had this planned out all the time for the full release of the video.

Check out when his "brother" registered TrustFundGirls.com... June 5, 2003. Why would a domain with a name like this be registered then?

How did a short clip of the tape get released, but never the whole video? You are telling me that his friend or people who had access to the tape only released a part of it, but never the whole thing? I believe only a small portion of the video was released to get peoples attention.

Interest got incredibly high (probably higher than anyone expected). All over the place, here included, people were asking over and over if anyone has seen the complete video...does the complete video even exist? Then suddenly the whole video gets released by Salomon. Why didn't the whole video get released earlier, before he was involved...if others had it...why only a small portion?

So we can all learn something from Salomon. Plan your marketing out in advance. Peak interest by causing controversy that you had "no part in" by only leaking out little info and parts of whatever it is. Then cash in.

I think he did wait a little too long to release the whole thing. And I think he should have an affiliate program that pays out a small portion of membership (I would promote the site for say $10 per signup).

Just my thoughts on how I think this all went down.

There will be more. Didn't he mention before the tape even came out that he was looking to do a site with A and B list girls ? Oh wait "A-list version of Girls Gone Wild".

Thing I want to know is if he really is cashing in? I mean who in there right mind would pay $50 to watch it just 5 times. Especially since its all over the net. Now I know dumbasses are born every 1second but seems like he might have made more profit by selling it off. But I could be wrong about his sales =) :2 cents:

Howard Stern had a huge thing on it. Got all the interest back. I am sure him alone mentioning it got alot...not the 30 million Salomom says in the Yahoo new article..but I bet he is making cash.

seems sleazy to me and all planned out. Wasnt his story in the beggining that it was stolen out of his house by a roommate or something and he was doing the victim routine.

Then the person that "stole" it was going to sell it to pornkings or something.

Then the short little clip comes out.

Then he comes out with trustfundgirls.

If he feels so comfortable about the legality and validity of his copyright, why is he running the business out of the Czech Republic.


An awful lot of publicity over nothing. The video sucks. It dosent give the viewer anything but blue balls.

And paris hilton is just a party slut. Seeing her fuck aint that big a deal because you know shes banged a million guys.
