designers / lcd monitors

any designers using LCD's?

I had one years ago (18.1" Viewsonic i think) that sucked big time.

Since then i've been using a 24" Sony widescreen CRT... but somehow the fucking screen got scratched like a motherfucker, and it's just fucking annoying to look at.

Plus, i'm sick of widescreen.

Anyway, i'm looking for a fucking flawless 19" LCD (x2)
and with every one I look at, one review will say it's great, then i'll find another that says something sucks about it.. preferably it'll have small side bezels.

So if ya got one... spit it out.. cause these scratches are making me feel like i'm on a bad trip.

Just go to compusa or bestbuy or wherever and let your eyes be the judge

I was wanting to do the same...a guy told me that I wouldn't get the same quality on a lcd as I would my CRT 19" Flat

LCD's IMHO aren't great for Image editing. But I have 2 nice 19'' CRT ViewSonics! They work great & the quality is great too!

i've been trying to decide myself between mitsubishi's 22" top-end crt and a 20" (or so) lcd from like samsung or sony (must have 1600 or better res, couldn't stand less for working). the mits is $700 without the color calibrating hardware, or $1200 with.

the sony, samsung and nec/mits large lcd's (the ones with 1600x1200) are all around $1300. so, for 1 lcd that's usable, i can get 2 high-end mits crts.

but, it's a tough choice. from what i'm reading, the only thing that crt's really have any more over lcd's is cost and color.

the ergonomics are really what's making it a difficult decision, the eye strain reduction and desk requirements of an lcd are soooo sexy.

power consumption is lower, clarity/geometry are way better, eye strain and ergomomics are huge advancements in lcds over crts.

i was checking out those nec/mitsibishi's earlier..
big price difference between them with and without the calibrator thing.

+$450 for the one with spectraview.

I don't know... my old monitor started to turn into purple so I bought an LCD monitor and I still cannot get used to it though it's been a while. ..

Yep .... same set up here

CRT's are way better for design

I use a 18" LCD atm and its is working perfectly. The coloring is the same as on my old CRT.

Ordered 2 new 19" Iiyama's and they will be here next week, can't wait to see how they are.

:thumbsup
