Quick SE?

build and forget or build and submit? does it make a difference time wise if i submit my site to a search engine or will the spiders find my sites eventually?

Rorschach 02-19-2004 02:08 AM

If you have good incoming links to your stuff and an easily spiderable linking structure spiders will find all your stuff on their own, and it's debatably better to let them do that than to submit.

It probably doesn't make much difference either way but it only takes 2 seconds to submit to Google. Might as well do it.

how long does it take to get indexed? if i had a pr7 site and put up links to sub pages... how long till it indexes them?

Some say a link is initially penalized in the ranking system for being submitted. I don't know if I agree with that, but I still don't submit to google if I can just throw a temp link up on a page that google bot vistis.

With a pr7 you'll get spidered pretty damn quickly, you'll get a couple of days of sweet freshbot traffic and then your pages will be included into the index at a later date.

when crosslinking sites, does the server IP address need to be different to boost PR or are seperate domain names enough?

someone asked a similar version of this question earlier but was ignored. i'm interested in the answer as well.

Rorschach 02-19-2004 02:25 AM

It's debatable, but separate IPs never hurt anyone. Pr is technically unrelated to domains or ips but weighting for local links is possible. They can see a densely linked subnet or class C of IPs easily... for longevity you have to break it up and make it look natural.
