Scary Shit
 

Ok, first off I live in a small town, not even close to a "big city". The city outside my town is only about 200,000 people. Hell, I hardly ever lock my doors and I live right off a fitness trail along a lake and people have no problems walking it day or night..

Crime is pretty low, usually petty stuff...rarely murder and thing like that...

Well...today I had the shock of my life. I get home from working late at the office to hear what happened at my little girls school today. Apparently a man armed with a gun barracaded himself in his home across the street from my daughters school about 10am today. The police locked down the school and the streets and cop cars were placed at all the exits. All the kids at the front of the school were taken to rooms at the back. Kids that normally go home for lunch were not allowed to leave. At 2pm they brought around buses to the back of the school (in the field, not where cars etc. normally go) and the fire department and police rushed the kids out of the school into buses and evacuated them to an arena for safety. Parents then picked their children up from the arena.

I'm not sure what happened, I never got the call. So here I am at work, with no idea this is all happening and my kid is at the arena. A school bus picked her up at her normal time and dropped her off at home. I never even found out about it until about 9:30 pm when I got home.

I am stressed beyond belief...I feel awful that I didn't go get the little one...she wasn't the only one...many parents could not be contacted...but still....you hear about this shit happening...but you never think it will happen in YOUR neighborhood.
