omg, don't get me started! This is like my number one musical rant topic.

Almost any cover of a cure song sucks. The cure have a style that is essential to their songs and pretty much no one but them can convey it.

Anyhoo...the one that is pushing my 'this should be against the law' buttons most recently is Tatu's slaughtering of ' How Soon Is Now' by The Smiths.

really as a rule I hate every single dance mix that uses an 80's song. Also, if a song didn't have a rap in the first place leave it the fuck alone.

That's another one that's pretty horrible too. Can't hate them that much for it though, they may suck...but someone had the good taste to pick a kickass song.

They didn't pick it and they took all passion out of it. Hell, I don't think they even understand the words.

yeah, I see what you are saying. Sometimes when I hear stuff like that I pray that the artists have lost control of their music catalog so I can blame some jackass in a suit for selling the songs to the slaughter.

Should we blame Moz and Marr? They had give their thumbs up for something like that to take place :winkwink:

that is what I am talking about..I hold out hope that somwhere down the line they don't control who does what. That said, i understand the desire to cash in. It isn't the first cover of How Soon Is Now...Love Spit Love did a really good version actually that I think is the theme song for Charmed.

Was in that witch movie "The Craft" too. That was a good one.

This goes without saying. Anything Limp Bizkit does is garbage.

Not sure...I know that Love Spit Love is the lead singer from psychedelic furs of (the spectacular) Pretty In Pink fame.

I don't even care for the regular version of that song, but her version made me want to smack her around a couple times...

No, I saw the name on a playlist somewhere and almost lost my lunch. From there I have made a point of not hearing it.

There is something about Amos that drives me nuts. In my freshman dorm almost every one of the girls but me had a a 'count down to tori concert' calander on their doors and every night they would make a ritual of taking the number down. I wanted to kill them all.

Some covers are good though...Placebo just did a cover of 'Running up that hill' by Kate Bush and I love it.

I just listed to my entire Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies collection and there isn't a tune that they cover that sucks.

That's my second favorite kate Bush song (behind "The Love and The Anger"), I'll have to check it out


for cheesy covers, I'ma sucker for the big band/metal album Pat Boone did, especially his version of "Holy Diver"

Some cover versions are just terrible, some songs should never be touched.

I love kate...she is like what Tori pretends to be. Plus, her dad used to be my hubby's dentist when he was a kid and Kate briefly went to his school. Apparently she wouldn't put out.
