designers: how do you cut-up a photoshop image for html tables?

Is there a trick or just a matter of 'show grid' and cut it up manually?

Try to use Image Ready.

There you are able to work easily with slices

shermo 02-17-2004 08:27 PM

I just slice it in PS using guides. Image ready is also a handy tool to have. :thumbsup

slice up your image in photoshop, import into imageready and save :)

LadyMischief 02-17-2004 08:28 PM

You can use your slice tool on the toolbar, or you can use the "create slice from layer" option. Some people use imageready, I do all mine right in PS. If you do a save for web once you'd made your slices, you can have it generate the html for you as well.

You mean printing it out and using an x-acto knife then rescaning each piece is not how everyone else does it?

pornguy 02-17-2004 08:30 PM

Fireworks is also a great tool for cutting the images..

mrthumbs 02-17-2004 08:35 PM

Thanks!

So Image Ready sounds cool.. is there a stand-alone version available?

I run PS 5.5 and all Image Ready links refer to Photoshop CS
on Adobe's site.

I tried an x-acto knife but it scratched my screen

why import it? save for web feature in PS does teh exact same thing but with better compression.

Can't agree with that. The compression and the quality is way better when i save it optimized within image ready. Maybe it's me who is doing something wrong ... dunno. But in the past i had everytime better results using image ready.

Image Ready works great. :)

PlayGirl 02-17-2004 09:11 PM

I just flatten image and add a background layer and color it in

then carefully crop out the images

if I fuck up, I just do it again
