Ok, I need some help please!
 

So, my 9 year old has to come up with an invention for school. It has to be something that could "make an everyday task easier". It also has to be something we can build. I am at a total loss, so some help would be much appreciated!! :(

Ahhh...I remember that one...about drove me nuts. The "invention" we came up with..... Many dogs have to have surgery on their legs, body etc. but keeping dressings on them is next to impossible because they always take them off.

My son and I made a dog coat with long sleeves. The sleeves came apart and inside was a pocket to put either a hot/cold pack or dressing to absorb drainage. The sleeves were then closed snugly with velcro. Since it is a coat the dog is unable to take it off and hence dressings stayed in place. It can also be used without dressings to protect any area on the dog (except tail, paws and head) that has stitches you don't want to the dog to lick or chew.

My son got an A+ on it, I got a migraine and our dog had a nervous breakdown.

wow, that's pretty cool. But my daughter is only 9, and I think that is pretty complicated. I am afraid her teacher would know she didn't come up with it, and give her problems. I need something really "simple".

THats a huge undertaking and if you build somthing original and innovative do you get a piece of it?

I guess all she gets is a good grade! Personally, I think it is a bit much to ask a 9 year old to come up with something to invent, AND build it. Our 12 year old has had science projects, but we built crap that already existed!

Nope, we have 2 weeks. It is driving me nuts trying to think of something "simple" enough for a 9 yr. old, but good enough for a good grade. :mad:

Almost embarrass to post this: how to crack an egg; time saving invention.

?I don?t like tiny shell pieces in my eggs so I develop a new way for my mom to crack eggs. She uses the sink or pan. My new invention is using a single edge razor like the ones for cutting carpet for a clean crack?? Got my stepdaughter an A.

thinking about it.... I can send you my design for the beer funnel we built for spring break. damn thats kinda tough. Everyday tasks for a 9 year old....get dressed, eat, go to school, play, eat, go to sleep.

SureFire - that is a good idea, it is simple enough that a 9 yr. old could think of it (no
offense :)), but the problem is she can't bring a razor to school. Damn rules and all;)

Have her design a smart stick to hit upside the teacher's head. 9 year olds simply do not think along the levels needed to decide something that needs improving, design/invent it, AND build it. wtf?! It's almost as bad as my kid's teachers giving the homework and THEN teaching the subject. Fucking teachers/schools nowadays suck imo.

Her teacher is awesome, but this kinda threw me for a loop. Their reading story this week is about kids who invented things, so now she wants the class to do it. Only thing is, kids inventing things that are really good is so rare, THERE WAS A FUCKING STORY WRITTEN ABOUT IT!!! :1orglaugh

Here's a thought. Why not let her think of an idea. Surley the mind of a 9 year old is full of possibliities. Some may be too far fetched but there may be a good one in there.

We had the same problem about the razor. My stepdaughter used cardboard models for the utility knife and salt and pepper shakers (she looked and I made them).

Got a C with this project:

"time saving event; So my dad is always late getting us to school so I devised a time clock wake up call system. It only requires a few alarm clocks place in exact placement with paper clips. You only have to use this invention once. All what you have to do is connect the paper clips together and position them around the alarm clocks and toilet and you will never be late to school again?"
