How into it are you?
If you are fucking gonzo, and will be playing 2+ times/month, just jump in and get the best gun you like.
If you run around playing woods games where you don't see anyone for 30 minutes, because they are hiding like 'snipers', you can get away with a non-electro.
If you usually play speedball games, you'll be more interested in paintball markers than can deliver a high rate of fire, and if they offer some kind of anti-chop eye, even better.
2 very good electros are the Dye Matrix and the New Shocker model from Smart Parts.Comment

$200-$400 is going to buy something like a basic Auto Cocker, which is a very nice non-electro. I had one that I upgraded a little bit, which I used for woods games, and as a non-electro backup.Originally posted by Maximillion

I'm pretty sure the Matrix guns are around $800. A friend of mine has a few, and he swears by them. This isn't too bad a price for a good electro marker - I had a few that ran over $1000 out of the box.
You can probably buy a nice used gun, maybe an older Shocker, even an old LED Angel, on eBay around that price range, though. Can't say what shape it's in, I would let your own mechanical skills, or if you have a tech shop near you, influence the decision to buy used. You can get some bargains, and you can get screwed - don't know until it shows up.Comment

I've always been a fan of Airgun Designs.
Their old Mag was fucking awsome. You either loved it or hated it. Some people have a hard time playing with it. Chops a lot if play with it the wrong way. But ones you learn how to play with it, it's unbeatable.
This summer I've been playing with their E-Mag.... I LOVE IT! You can run it bot in electro and non-electro mode. Awsome if the electro breaks or you forgot to charge the batteries.

STO Autococker Custom Laser Signed Bud Orr Frame.
MIdnight Adrenalin Angel LCD
(BLACK) Adrenalin Angel LED ( Only One ever made direct from the factory
)
Sandridge Autococker w/midnight splash to match my adren.
But I dont play anymore I also used to own ( Xtreme Paintball Online when I lived in missouri ) sold it as well as all of my guns awhile back to a friend.
