What bank are you with at the moment? I'm with suncorp metway and I just got a fucking letter saying foreign cheque fees are going from $5 - $10 per cheque for any cheque over $10.

As well as this, all Visa card transactions that require currency conversion will be charged 2% of the value of the transaction. So basically if we use paypal to pay someone or receive money from someone in another country we get slapped with the paypal fee plus another 2% bank fee. Fuck this shit.

What banks are you with and what kind of deal do you get?

Im with St George bank, their charges are like this.

1 US cheque = $10.50 (total)
2 US cheques = $10.50 (total)
3 US cheques = $16.20 (total)

Since they can only take 3 at a time per sheet and need to type the company name, bank, amount and all the fucken numbers on each cheque, it takes so fucken long to do. 12 cheques can take 2 hours. I go off and get a starbucks coffee, do some shopping, pay some bills then come back and it's all done. :D

AFAIK the 2% charge is added when you are overseas and process a transaction. Accordingto my local branch you can bring in as many checks as you want and only get one $10 fee. It's pretty standard (st george, westpac etc)

We bank CBA too and one nice customer service type person told us that if we make the manager's life a misery he has the ability to waive the fees.

Only problem for us is that our manager is in Tassie and we're in Qld :(

National Australia Bank, $10 for as many checks as long as they're from the same company.

If the check is under a grand (or maybe its 2 grand I can't remember) you should have the funds available within 72 hours.

I'm with the Commonwealth bank and those fuckers charge me $10 for every overseas check and they take 28 working days to clear.
my main big sponsors wire me my money so I have access to it straight away
