So many people saying their goodbyes to this biz

There's been a lot lately. Has biz really gotten that tough?
I always predicted that someday the middle would be squeezed out of the industry and we'd be left with operators and college punks.
Are we getting closer to that point?

BradShaw 02-16-2004 08:31 PM

I would really like to say my good byes to be honest. Leave with a full wallet and double birds flying. But 2003 was my best year, and 2004 is just too much $ to walk away from. Opportunities like this may one come once in a lifetime.

dantheman 02-16-2004 08:33 PM

I've saw a few go away that surprised me kinda, but it's like any other business, over come and adapt :)

Donny 02-16-2004 08:34 PM

I am happy to see them go. The amount of webmasters and wannabe's in this biz needs to be drastically reduced.

ahhh, but you see, the middle guys are the guys we want. The rabble beer money makers are what we'll be left with.

funkmaster 02-16-2004 08:37 PM

... wait until the remaining 4 ISPS's will go bottom up, 99% of those little webmaster programs won't be able to organise their processing.

I am looking forward to that !!!

Mr.Fiction 02-16-2004 08:37 PM

It's so cheap to get into the online adult industry that new small webmasters will keep coming.

When that day happens, I will gladly retire. But I think we are 18-24+ months from then.

slapass 02-16-2004 08:43 PM

I think it has gotten stronger. Everyone I talk to is making huge bank.

Huge bank = top 1% of all wage earners. So not Quiet or Sleazy level buts lots of high middle class webmasters.

dantheman 02-16-2004 08:43 PM

fuck, save some for hosting

:)

IPK 02-16-2004 08:44 PM

yeah i'd like to say goodbye and retire at 24

would have to agree with this...it's become quite apparent to me this last year and a half that people are NOT making as much money as others think they are.

Winterverse 02-16-2004 08:52 PM

How could you go do anything else after this? Your own hours, all the money you can grab.

Basic_man 02-16-2004 08:53 PM

Okay, bye bye, I'm making cash and i'm happy! :thumbsup

Toolshed 02-16-2004 08:53 PM

as a middle guy, I can honestly say I think/dream of leaving this biz every waking minute of my day. I have no inherent love for this industry. I don't even like porn. And there are roughly 5 million other things I'd rather be doing.

but alas, bills must be paid. And escape is not forthcoming any time soon.

I agree. I have met a several good friends, and business people in this business. But overall, this industry attracts idiots with more issues than Readers Digest.

KRL 02-16-2004 08:59 PM

Too many people still working with torn maps and hand shovels trying to find the treasure. You need GPS navigation and earth penetrating radar to succeed in today's market.

Theo 02-16-2004 09:10 PM

More people will go through time. Sponsors now have started generating their own traffic streams and things get more competitive every day.

KRL, nice sig. I hope you didn't empty Mike's pocket :-)

as I said before... the old timers are headed out and fresh blood is coming in with bigger and better ideas.. fresh and motivated..

look at brad shaw, he is all washed up, when is the last time he came out with anything new? a 'reality' site? lol

same goes with 80% of the programs, they have lost either the ability to to grow(no great ideas) or just simply lost the initiative..

thats great, I cant wait till the old timers get the fuck out, cause I will be right there at the top once they are gone.

eat your heart out brad and 12clicks.

lol

you are a tool. You have a flock of newbs chasing you so you think yourself some kind of player.

The chance of you ever having the respect of anyone that matters is nil.

Your mouth constantly writes checks your ass can't cash.

You have always been, and always will be, a joke in this business.

Since when does anyone need respect in any business to be successful?

I have never claimed to be a player by anymeans... Im not into these status games you clowns play.

I might be a joke to you, but the guys cashing my checks sure seem to take me seriously

hah great comparison.

WiredGuy 02-16-2004 10:16 PM

I would like to see a reduction in the amount of webmasters actually, no offense to the smaller guys.

NaughtyJenn 02-16-2004 10:18 PM

noticed the same trend, sad to see 420 leave but hes off to do bigger and better things :)

I would like a man boob reduction and a tummy tuck while you are at it.

Mr Pheer 02-16-2004 10:48 PM

most people have high expectations and then realize that it takes work, and you cant just copy everyone else and make it big.. you gotta be a constant innovator to succeed, and be somewhat of a leader, able to push yourself to get what you want

the truth is that most people are not leaders and dont even know what they want, and damn sure dont have the motivation to work for it

Although it occurs at less than 1:1000, some of today's college "punks" will become tommorow's "operators":2 cents:

it seems to me that no publicity is bad pubicity and all these people that talk shit about pimpdog is just making pimp and his posse more popular. So do you realy hate him or do you Envy him, maybe he goes about it in a crude rude way but like he says the person cashing his paychecks is not laughing at him..and by the way i do not even know who pimdog is and i would not know who he is if you guys did not make him so popular

I don't see very many posting proof. Probably just talking trash. This business can be up and down and I question getting a real job everyday.

to be king of the rabble is not something I aspire to.

GeXus 02-17-2004 06:40 PM

Maybe people are simply moving on to bigger and better things.. Sure there is TONS of room to expand and alot of untaped ideas in this industry, but there is also alot outside of this industry as well.

JDog 02-17-2004 06:41 PM

Yea, I've noticed a lot of people leaving! I don't think it's all about biz, maybe a few tho!

Interesting analogy: besides working in the XBiz, my "other" life is gold prospecting up here in the mountains of sunny California, and exploring the use of satellite and GPS technology to find alluvial gold deposits. If I spent as much time in the field as I do in front of the box, I'd be getting more excercise, and making as much money.

Still, I'm air conditioned here, and fairly free of the risk of having a 120lb mountain lion leap on my head while sitting at my desk...
