How to turn junk traffic into CASH!
How to turn junk traffic into CASH!
404 and other "error" traffic can be a headache. Let us worry about it. This is a long standing question that MANY adult webmasters have asked themselves and even asked other webmasters. "What can I do with my 404 traffic?" First let's start with where this traffic comes from: 1. A gallery on your domain. For example you submit www.bobsgalleriesz.com/Lisa/lisa.html . Surfers are getting smarter these days, and many surfers will go into the address bar and change the URL to: www.bobsgalleriesz.com/lisa/lisa2.html hoping to get new images. They will even do this with the .jpg or .gif. 2. Old links. These can be listed on search engines still, they can be linked on your site without you knowing it- or can be from other sites out on the net linking to a page that does not exist on your domains. There's a lot of other places error traffic can come from, but the bulk of it will be from these methods. You'd be amazed at how much 404 traffic your site actually gets. I thought I may get 50 uniques a day to 404. Turns out I was getting more like 2,000. This is just from galleries I may have removed, links that were old and removed but still semi cached on a users machine and more. 404 traffic is some of the hardest to convert. You can ask anyone. Unless you're a resident expert and have been doing it for years, you're not going to have much luck getting those users to click. I tried a lot of methods of converting this traffic. I sent it to a hub, I sent it to a "general niche" tgp- and anything else I could think of. All this traffic did was eat at my bandwidth bill because the users either clicked around and started the cycle all over again, or they just LEFT my site and I lost a surfer. The problem also was it just was not enough traffic to really concern myself with on a daily basis. But if someone told me they could take that traffic and start converting it the same day I would be all over it! The problem with sending 404 to other TGP, MGP, Link Lists etc is that once they find a gallery they like they will pull the same stunts and try to get the freebies. However if you use a 404 trap, you're going to force them into a decision. Chances are they will signup for SOMETHING. Now don't forget, there are other types of traffic like this. How about 403, 401 or 400 error documents? If someone goes to www.bobsgalleriesz.com/lisa/ and there is no index file, what happens? Most of the time a host is setup by default to show a "403 Forbidden" document that tells them they can not view the directory listing. That again is a WASTE! Why not send them to a 404 trap and get something for your time? So really we have come down to ONE simple question: How can I make 404 type traffic turn into sales? Answer: Use a 404 trap! What is a 404 trap you ask? Simple. It is a landing page you can send 404, or any other type of "error document" traffic to. It is designed to grab the surfer and their attention, and have them signup to some sort of a program. If you know you are not currently sending traffic to a 404 trap, or you are unsure - edit your .htaccess file and add the following: (or create a file called ".htaccess" and upload it to your main site directory) ErrorDocument 400 http://www.epicgals.com/epic404/?YOUREPICID ErrorDocument 401 http://www.epicgals.com/epic404/?YOUREPICID ErrorDocument 403 http://www.epicgals.com/epic404/?YOUREPICID ErrorDocument 404 http://www.epicgals.com/epic404/?YOUREPICID ErrorDocument 500 http://www.epicgals.com/epic404/?YOUREPICID You will very soon find out what kind of traffic you were getting- and start seeing some money out of what you were THROWING AWAY before now. Give it a try and see what you have been missing out on. Even if you currently have a 404 strategy, it never hurts to try something new. Change your links for a couple of days and see if Epic Cash can increase your sales. Now you're probably wondering if there are any other uses for this dandy convert-o-matic page here. And the answer is YES there is. Launch the page as an exit popup. When a surfer leaves your site, launch this window. If they haven't bought anything from you- why not give it one last shot? It doesn't hurt and you could find yourself with an extra sale or 2 a day. Are you opposed to an extra $1,000 a month? Didn't think so! Here's another idea: - Put a link up offering access to porn for only $1 All of the sites advertised are $1 to join sites. So why not push that to surfers? $1 discount porn is a HUGE seller. Note: Don't forget to mention that they will get a FREE DVD every month that they are a member. Bottom Line: Stop throwing away your traffic. Send it to the Epic Cash 404 Trap and convert it! wether you use Epic Cash or not, this will work with any program that is willing to setup and give you credit on your 404 traffic |
nice info :thumbsup

1) Too many popups....
2) Why not make a popup to my tgp? like: http://www.epicgals.com/epic404/?YOU...xit=thehun.net |
Good posti added that trap to 1 of my domains yesterday to test you guys on it.
|
btw great post!
and you should make pages like that by niche... |
Yea on my 450k tgp I started redirecting my 404 traffic and it turned out to be over 20k uniques per day . My site started growing insanely from that traffic.
|
oracle, that is the entire point of a 404 trap.. its all wasted traffic, why not maximise on the potential for a sale?

People can bitch and moan about popups when it comes to your tgp and regular sponsor links on there, but this is 404 traffic. It's harder to convert so put away what you "think" you know about popups and follow the tried and true startegies of the experts who've made money with popup for years. 404 traffic is not traffic u have any reason to be "nice" to anyways imho. With that said. I took a look at Epics 404 trap and I like it. There's good "click theory" involved. Most won't understand what's going on, but there's some good choices made on his trap setup like ending with a dialer after no one decided on using there Credit Card. Very good "click theory" and roadmap for the popups. I use a similar setup with "my" 404 traffic. Nice setup Pimpdog. |
As the guy says - lot of cash to make on 404.
I do several thousand 404's a day and it is a big earner. I would add this - Don't try to be too cute and streatch your earning potential - 404 traffic will not take multiple pop ups etc - Show a good page with maybe 1$ sites and a saving money bar and a single pop - After that, you are probably going over the top |

Love him or hate him , you ain't gonna out-smart PDog. :1orglaugh |
Harlot: that is a good point, and I see where you are coming from.
But there really isn't a need to be nice with these types of surfers. A clean site that converts 1:200 on GOOD solid tgp traffic may convert 1:2,000 on 404 traffic. Just because of the nature of it. It depends on your tactics really, and whatever works for you works. But for the most part traps do a MUCH better job than a clean landing page and 1 exit. |
make a long list of your sponsors and send all your junk traffic to there from all your sites...

I'm sure you could make it work a lot better if you increased the cont size 1 or 2px, and maybe added an exit or 2. |

Very good post. Its true though that with 404 traffic you have no real reason to be nice to the surfer. And with more pop ups, there is more potential. On the 1st, 2nd, 3rd pop up he may close them all, but the 4th pop up might be something that could interest him - maybe a pic of a girl he really likes - so then he clicks and you have a click to the paysite. There was no waste in that, just more potential.. Now on a tgp, I can see why there should be no more than 1 if any. That is a site a surfer will regularly return to, and if hes constantly being bugged by consoles, he wont return. Completely different story on the 404. :)

And with a few exit console you'll see a nice increase as well. I'd make the first exit push a bunch of free trial or $1 sites, then pop an email sponsor and then a dailer. Now you're at only 3 consoles which really isn't a lot and you'll see a nice $$$ increase. Overal that is a really, really sweet page :-) Just my :2 cents: |

here you go.... http://www.softgalleries.com/pay4pleasure_12px.html i think big fonts says "here is a spam page.. runaway" :-) |

I personally think it also looks better with the bigger font. Way easier to read. You may need to tweak the links under "Discounted Pay Sites" though since they wrap around now.
Give it a test for a week and see if sales increase :-) |

Really like to see BradShaws history... I'd bet good money that he clicked the "This person is on your Ignore List. To view this post click [here] " link :winkwink: .

For me - I initially redirect to a page with a few galleries and dollar email links - But I also try to define that 404 traffic and attempt to send it to specific free sites, in case it doesn't go off and sign up anywhere - We all know 404 is crap - But if it doesn't make cash from emails - if it doesn't make cash at the gallery links, then trading it off gives me another bite at the cherry - My money bar is simply selling this traffic, and my pop also is a traffic seller - But - There is bound to be a far better way - There always is!!! |
Very valid points. Thanks Harlot!
|
What about those popups that automatically fullscreen and hide the navbars so you have to ALT+F4 to close them. Some surfers are too dumb to use ALT+F4. And just put links to dialers
