$341 is the avg. for maint & fuel per hours used annually.

Insurance can swing depending on the useage, but typically runs about $8,000 / month.

Airtime on this one is 1,325 hours.

Price is $1,195,000

That's beyond awful, and would be criminal. You got people's lives at stake and you're peddling defective parts. You should be ashamed to even post that.

Surprised insurance is that low. I sat next to a sales guy from boeing helicopters once a plane. He told me they get a ton of enquires on helicopters from athletes and celebs, but as soon as they find out the cost of insurance they run.

jasmine 02-17-2004 11:36 AM

It's a little disturbing that the insurance is that high.

Do they crash alot or something?

depends on the insurance i guess. i had an uncle that ran helicopters for about 15 years and he hit a point where it made more sense to have limited companies that operated at arms length from any individual then get liability insurance.

I'm sure there are varing degrees of what an insurance/liability policy for a helicpter will cover/pay out and that would effect the price of the policy.

KRL 02-17-2004 05:05 PM

They have 15 helicopters so maybe they get that insurance on a volume price. He did say it could run way more depending on what the useage is and the pilots who will be flying it.

erehwon 02-17-2004 05:29 PM

Creepy...

The FAA N-number for that helicopter has an interesting past.

In 1968 a 28 year old pilot flying a Cessna 150 with the tail number of N8265F stalled the aircraft doing a unwarranted low pass and basically totalled the aircraft.

After that, A Piper PA-28 had that N-number and its listed as destroyed.

Call me superstitious, but the first thing I would do if I bought this bird would get an untarnished N number. There is some weird karma floating around that registration. :(

Otherwise, its a really nice helicopter, and to answer Spotter's question, a CD player isn't all that hard to install. :)

Yeah but what about a beer holder for the pilot? It could be dangerous holding the bottle between your legs while you fly!

SoBeGirl Video 02-17-2004 06:31 PM

The SoBeCat likes that :-)
