Who's The Coolest Actor Of All Time?

I say it's Humphrey Bogart hands down!

If any of you whippersnappers mentions Vin Diesel you're out of the voting.

Johnny Depp, he plays all kinds of rolls both weird and cool. easily the best actor out there today. you never ever see him playing the same type of character.

mpulse 02-16-2004 12:21 PM

It has to be Sean Connery...

Okay you can hang with us for mentioning Steve McQueen. He was coolest in Magnificent Seven.

Yet no one touches cool like Bogart. Bogart was cool for 30 years straight. Dean was cool but didn't have enough work though what little he did was awesome.

Pat Morita a.k.a Mr Miyagi. Most actors wouldn't give you the time of day, let alone offer you a portion of his pork dish at a sushi restaurant.

Super fuckin' cool.

Steve 02-16-2004 12:44 PM

becuase I think of John Wayne as a tough guy, not really a joe cool kinda guy.

Bogart was cool, but I honestly haven't seen too many of his movies.

sickkittens 02-16-2004 12:44 PM

Forgot to mention DeNiro too.

See, that's the point. The most imitated actor of all time is Humphrey Bogart. From Jack Nicholson to Harrison Ford on down the line, everybody wants to be Bogie. Yet if you've not seen Bogie's films you wouldn't see how so many actors imitate his moves, looks, 5 O'Clock shadow, cigarette smoking ( don't Bogart that joint comes from the way Bogart used to hold a cigarette forever while dishing out a line or contemplating something )

For the past 50 years guys have been imitating Bogart and then guys imitate the guys who imitate Bogart ad infinitum.

That's why I say Bogart is the coolest. Even my other favorites Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson imitated Bogart to a degree.

I have to agree Bogart is the king of cool. James Stewart is probably my favorite actor but he's not very cool.

VeriSexy 02-16-2004 01:24 PM

Al Pacino :thumbsup

Michaelious 02-16-2004 01:25 PM

If you're talking about "cool" and not tough....I'd have to go with Sean Connery, Roger Moore...they made a lot of women wet playing Bond.

If you're talking about real tough guys and not just actors...Steve McQueen hands down.

axelcat 02-16-2004 01:31 PM

Robert De Niro

Hugh G Recshun 02-16-2004 01:34 PM

Bruce Campbell from evil dead 3

James Stewart is another original.

Bogart, Cooper, Stewart, and of course Cagney all broke the mold. Guys after them imitated them and so on and so on.

It's unusual to get a real original performer nowadays. Same with actresses. They're imitating people imitating Kathrine Hepburn, Audrie Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe.

That's why you've gotta go back to the classics to see the originals do their stuff. It's not to say there aren't great actors nowadays because there are. Yet acting is about convincing the audience the perfomance is real and not contrived. If I'm watching a movie or tv show or radio drama and I KNOW I'm watching a movie, tv show or radio drama then the acting failed.

Pacino is definitely king of cool.

Tons of other leading men that are bad-asses, but "cool" is a very specific thing.

Yeah but a lot of classics fail that test. Cagney was good for his era...so were all those guys...but there was a certain style to acting then that you look at it now some of it's quite cheesy.

I don't know if it was just the writing or what....but I love the classics however I see this now.

Not in every movie..but a lot.

I think Pacino is one of the greatest actors of all time but I don't think any king of cool would have a facelift or wear a toupee.
that's gay behaviour.

Judge Reinhold, the coolest muthafucka ever! :thumbsup
