MadCap 02-16-2004 12:48 AM

Man much respect on this one bro.

i know it is a problem that needs to be adressed like 2years ago before it got this bad. Good to see you stepup on this one man

Cash4Joins 02-16-2004 12:49 AM

are we going to get an update for each chargback?

MadCap 02-16-2004 12:51 AM

Side note.

We need to do something about webmasters too. If people didnt get slammed with 3 or 4 charges every time they used thier credit card for a pornsite. THe situation would not be as bad.:2 cents:

TonyL 02-16-2004 12:57 AM

Im lost. What does signing up for your program have to do with chargeback prevention?

I was wondering the same thing

malakajoe 02-16-2004 01:02 AM

I believe he wants to start a case against the credit card companies. Thus promoting his site will help in that fight.

Or I could be wrong.

J$tyle$ 02-16-2004 01:04 AM

Seriously though ...

Our chargeback situation is differnt than most ...

We're at less than one tenth of a percent AND we CAN fight it because we ship a physical item!

Nonetheless, we take this shit seriously and WILL fight every one!

Besides that ... our shit converts so jump the fuck on board and get some banners flying!

:winkwink:

Think of it as one of many steps to come all with the same goal of working around the charge back problem. As time goes on everything will start to make sense :)

We have the same setup. We ship physical products as well. We have full tracking numbers and signature confirmation to there door. We still get chargebacks and fight every single one with absolute proof of purchase. We have not had one single chargeback revoked in the last 2 years. Consumer fraud is not possible to fight at this stage in the game. It's total bullshit. I talk to my processor on a monthly basis about this frustrating situation. They are as lost as I am. Visa/MasterCard are running a monopoly and they could care less about the merchant.

Mr.Fiction 02-16-2004 01:27 AM

You guys are shipping a product for every charge, right? Do you get signature confirmation on every delivery?

It should be easier to fight than an online membership.

We're "updating" you on our first CB because it's our first CB :winkwink:

Further updates regarding new CB's will be more or less generalized averages.

Well, I guess we're lucky that this is our first ... sure it won't be the last with all the "friendly fraud" going on

:winkwink:

Either way, we'll be sure to let you know how this gets handled

:thumbsup

When you say you have not had one single chargeback revoked, do you mean that the charge backs have still been in favor of the consumer?

Yes. The chargebacks still stand. The only company that even remotely works with the merchant is AMEX.

EmporerEJ 02-16-2004 06:24 AM

So, this is your new venture Jonathon?

Not sure if we have a good processor or what, but we've been pretty successful with a -ZERO- chargeback ratio. Also might have something to do with EVERY address being verified BRFORE shipment. (And of course, we ship an insured product, and require a signature)

But it would be interested to see how you proceed through this. Personally, I think the industry needs a blacklist of people that pull this shit. Like 911merchat.org does. They are in the "Legit" world, but have a very active group, and from the sound of it, get allot of chargeback?s from their member merchants as well. (Mostly software download buy frauds.

Anyhow, I think a list would be a great idea, I just can't figure out how to make it sustain itself. If we had an organization that you could post the info to, and then have someone "call them" later to "verify" the fraud, that would scare'em straight.
We could nip this problem in the bud. They'd do it one time, have an "agent" call them, or email them about "details" of the fraud of member associations. Guess what? BINGO. Any site with the seal would stop getting fraud, because a: they would have access to the blacklist, and B: the fraud guy would know that someone was gonna call them.

A "Report" could be available for the member sites to see if it's a genuine fraud, or some guy pulling a scam.

After a year or so of collecting names, we offer a telecheck type of guarantee for members if they run the name against the list?
Anyone? Thoughts?

The credit card company makes more by eating what your item cost than losing the customer to a card who would.

Actually, this project was conceived and lovingly nurtured by the brilliant mind and blood sweat and tears of Dave from Holio :thumbsup

He contacted me at launch and my company has beed working with his in a sales and marketing capacity.

You've brought up some good valid points. Very interesting and well thought out!

DFAB has been designed as an extremely customer service oriented company. We are doing some of the things you mention, and will consider doing others.

Thanks for the input.

I'll let you know how things pan out!

:)
