DDR PC2100 do both banks need to be the same value ie: 512 each or can you have 1 gig in one and 512 in the other?

I believe you can have one of each type! I've never had a problem have 2 different sizes of ram since the EDO ages! :)

If it's dual channel ram, they have to be of the same size. Otherwise it's ok, although it can be tricky sometimes to get a system stable with different memory sticks.
