You can write of anything as long as you can prove it helps your business make money.

Having just collected everything for my accountant to do my taxes, yup. also remember things like hosting, pic and movie purchases, internet access at least partially, I have dsl, and don't use that phone line for anything but dsl, so I write that off too.

Domain registration fees, I spent over 1,000 last year just on domain registration fees, so that is a good writeoff for me. Software (like tgp scripts, ftp scripts, etc), po box rental (if get your checks delivered to a po box as opposed to home), computer upgrades (hard drives, etc) as bdld said, anything that helps you make money is a writeoff.

Keep receipts for everything. Also, if you work out of your home, and have a designated office, there are home office deductions too. :thumbsup

If you register a domain and pay for 10 years up front, can you write off the entire cost?

Or use amortization or something? :(

You should definitly write off advertising costs. If it can be seen as a way to boost your business, you can definitly write it off. Hell.. You can write off condoms if you're a content producer. :thumbsup

Uh... an increase in assets doesn't stop your expense from being an expense, and you can write off all business expenses. And then, you also get to write off depreiciation when the site at your $500 domain sucks.

flashfire 02-17-2004 02:05 AM

Yes, for sure:thumbsup

Throw some parties and write off the expenses like Hugh Hefner does.
