Epic Mail stats issue resolved.
Plain and simple 98% of accounts their signups went up becuase early accounts we used for testing actually were getting the signups becuase they had the ip address related to the signup. Becuase it was first in the database it got credit for the signup.
We ran two databases. One master db that contained all the signup info. This data had no issues what so ever. The second database was used to show hits and signups in the stats area. A mistake was made in how we updated accounts with signups. when we containted the stats databases to update a sale we based it on the ip address and the site id. As most of you know there are a limited number of ips in the world, even less for isps that use proxies. aol mainly.
We stored data in the master database based on email address and site id. this caused no conflict when updating the correct account with the signup.
We noticed about late wed night early thursday morning that signups were not showing for the right people in the stats database. Our accounts used to test the system early on were showing huge jumps in signups which was only becuase they apeared first in the database with that ip address.
Firday morning around 10am PST we reset the stats db and imported correct signup data giving you a 100% correct reading of your signups.
We have also reworked how the stats database stores and updates signups and hits so this never happens again.
Plain and simple no signup data was ever lost. It just was not being shown correctly in the stats database.
If you think we shave then go elsewhere. Some of you got more singups than what your stats showed before the error was noticed.. some of you lost signups after the error was corrected and vise versa.
anyone that knows anything about programming can clearly see how we fucked up in the script.
sorry for the hassle and doubt, but this is the way it is. If you have less sales then you did before we caught this, I am sorry, if you have more than you did before we caught this, then congrats.
stats are 100% correct.
If you are sapmming aol, your hits are off because aol has only so many ip's/proxies.
