http://www.zdnet.co.uk/i/z/rv/2003/03/linksys-g-i1.jpg
Firmware hackers have turned the Linksys WRT54G wireless access point into, hands down, the best home/office network appliance on the market for the money! (Well under $100) With a simple firmware upgrade, it provides feature sets that can only be found in devices costing thousands. I love FreeBSD, but when people start hacking these devices built on GPL'd Linux - I have to like linux just a little too :) http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/38267 http://www.sveasoft.com/forum6.html There just aren't enough of these icons -> :thumbsup :thumbsup |
Some of the hacks / enhancements:
Increase output power Wireless Distribution System OSPF Routing Shorewall Firewall WDS setup and statistics web interface Capture portal screen with local or remote authorization Expanded firewall rules (forward/block any port/machine combination) Frottle remote node management (for wide area networks) Web based Linksys wireless network statistics Remote gathering of wireless network statistics VPN client and server (PPTP *done*, IPsec, and/or OpenVPN) DHCP static IP assignment to specific MAC addresses Dproxy-nextgen DNS caching proxy server deprecated - dnsmasq aöready does DNS caching Wake-On-LAN functions with scheduling Bandwidth management SSH |
