Thats the second thing I remember! My uncle had to come over with a jack to pry my head out...

tootie 02-12-2004 07:21 PM

I wasn't talking much yet, just a few months old (maybe 10-12 months), but old enough to stand up while holding onto the sides of my playpen. I remember I could understand what my parents were saying, but I couldn't speak much myself yet. I was standing in my playpen and crying, afraid because there was a thunderstorm and I wanted someone to pick me up. My mother wanted to but I remember my dad telling her not to pick me up because it would just reinforce my belief that a thunderstorm was something to be afraid of. I cried and cried until the storm was over. My parents actually remember it, too. They don't remember exactly how old I was but they remembered it happening after I told them that I remembered it.

After that my earliest memory is from when I was about 2 and a girl at daycare took the rubber duck that I ALWAYS played with after naptime every day and I bit the crap out of her. I got a spanking for it but no one EVER touched that duck again! :1orglaugh

candyflip 02-12-2004 07:23 PM

I remember sitting in the movie theatre at a little over 2 years old. My little sister had just been born and we were seeing Superman: The Movie.

This is my most vivid memory from that young of an age.

tootie 02-12-2004 07:28 PM

Candyflip, you just reminded me that I remember seeing Star Wars when I was about 18 months old. I fell asleep during the movie and I woke up in the car on the way home and my parents told me I'd missed Darth Vadar in the lobby signing authographs after the show. I was PISSED!

My parents were shocked when I told them I remembered that years ago. I still remember it clearly.

VeriSexy 02-13-2004 04:17 AM

Hammered my own thumb when I was 2

AnalProbe 02-13-2004 04:25 AM

The last thing I can remember :

There was a guy asking something about the earliest thing.

Ehh...

What was I saying ?

What am I doing here ?

I can't remember.

phelix 02-13-2004 10:03 AM

First memory is of me and my Dad walking out to the beach and watching as helicopters and boats searched for the downed plane of baseball great Roberto Clemente. I was 3.

He would become my hero as I grew :)

Carrie 02-13-2004 10:08 AM

Being held by my Dad and watching a carousel go around - I was 2 or 3.

I think we've all gotten our head stuck in a railing, hehe - it's like a kid initiation or something :thumbsup

mule 02-13-2004 10:17 AM

1-2 years old, getting attacked by my dads dog (because I was spitting on it)

2-3 years old. My oldest brother was pushing my down the sidewalk on his skateboard.

ztik 02-13-2004 10:23 AM

Oh yeah, another 1-2. My brother stuck a key in a light socket and I got shocked from it too because I was touching him. We both starting screaming and crying.

Herb Kornfield 02-13-2004 01:28 PM

4-6 months old riding in the backseat of my parents station wagon watching stuff passing by.

My parents were blown away since they got rid of that car before I turned 1 and I can still remember what the car looked like totally clear to this day 31 years later.

Manowar 02-13-2004 01:30 PM

That's really freakishly late to have your first memory...

Angry Man 02-13-2004 01:33 PM

killing small animals in the front yard.

bcooter 02-13-2004 01:36 PM

most of the memories you guys have from when you were 3 and under are not real memories. someone told you the story at a later time, and you imagined yourself in it. that is what you actuall remember. most psychologists agree that your long term memory doesnt fully develop until you are around 4 years of age. This is not true in all cases, some of you might truly remember things from before that age, but most of you dont. And you will never know if you actually remember the incident, or if you remember the imagined recollection.

anyway, i remember almost drowning in my parents pool while my mom was holding me as a baby. She doesnt remember telling me a story, or anything like that ever happening. so it could have been a dream, or a real memory, that she didnt even realise was happening.

the mind is a tricky thing.

RATBOY 02-13-2004 01:36 PM

I had McDonalds for lunch.

Furious_Male 02-13-2004 01:38 PM

I remember being baptized at a few months old. I remember seeing my god parents (aunt and uncle) standing to the right as I was being held. The priest had a red type robe. Then the feeling of the water on my head. I bust out crying because it felt weird.

Most of my own family finds it hard to believe I remember that but I do vividly. I have a few other memories when I was still unable to speak as well.

Valid point and it makes for a valid argument about myself remembering my baptism (see post above). However I have many memories of little things as well that our family doesnt discuss because it was just small things... Like the time my grandmother gave me a bottle with juice before I went to bed. I remember puking in my crib .. My parents were just getting home so I started crying when I heard them. My mother came in and asked my grandmother if she gave me anything before bed because that would have made me sick.

No pictures or discussion of that event but it happened. Weird stuff.
