Fusker sites
The guys that run these sites say that:
"I strongly believe that the internet is an open medium, and people should be free to view or not view its content as they wish." and "1. I'm not stealing your bandwidth. If i was serving my pages from your server without your knowledge, then I would be stealing your bandwidth. It is your choice to make your images available to people on the internet. 2. I'm not using unlicensed content. The only 'content' my site has is that submitted by its users - links to your images. If i was claiming these images as my own, then yes, I would agree." and "Still an incorrect analogy. I have taken nothing from your 'grocery store'. A better one might be: Your store gives away free cookies to tempt people in, and is full of annoying sales assistants trying to convince them to buy things they don't really want. In my store I have a noticeboard where people describe the best route to take round your store to avoid the assistants and get straight to the cookies. If you don't want these visitors then you should put a sign up saying 'fuskerers not welcome'. (a .htaccess file)" Anybody want to join me in img srcing this asshole into oblivion? After all, his site is an open medium, if he doesn't want us loading it in an invisible hahahahahaha, he should protect himself against that. http://fusker.lewww.com Also, here is his e-mail address: [email protected] Please ass him to your spam lists. |
I let them fusker me then switch the pix to this giant image:

I'm going to change mine to an image that says "This site has been shut down by the FBI and your IP address has been recorded. Do not attempt to leave your home. Authorities are on the way."
You think that would scare his surfers? :1orglaugh |

that's a good idea. I might try to write something to do that, a CFX tag that would read the IP then draw it into a jpeg. |
What is the best solution to stop those bastards?
Its decentralized so its not like there is any one target or filter. |
I emailed them and asked them to remove my site. They actually responded quickly and respectfully. They added my domain to the list of sites that can't be fuskered.

This would be like a affiliate stealing content from from one site and using it to promote something else, right? jDoG |
Yes, I've complained to the sponsors of several fusker sites. Some care, some don't. Lightspeed Cash officially supports them.

Let me clarify our position on this.
1) We allow hotlinking off OUR servers, obviously I'm trying to get our sites as much exposure as possible. But we are the SPONSOR not the ADVERTISER. I don't think its right to hotlink an ADVERTISER's content and substitute your own ads. 2) That being said, fusker is correct, the hotlinking issue is easily solved with mods to .htaccess 3) And the poeple being hotlinked that don't like it have the ultimate fun party game... because you can control the content on someone else's site! Fusker is taking the risk of seeing lots of copies of "*******" or other equally disgusting (or even illegal) images appearing on his pages. That's not a risk I would want to take. Fusker has offered his email address to have your domains blocked and I will ask him personally to not hotlink images from the galleries of lightspeed affiiates. Steve Lightspeed |
