The end of 3rd party or auto rebills in March?

I heard through the grape vine that something big is coming in March.
End of third party? End of auto rebills? Another one bites the dust? What have you heard about CC processors?

Please make an effort, make this an interesting and educational read.

thx,
Ray

Fuck, I hope thats it. But I dont think the was the "big" news. Not big enough to move the industry anyway.

No Insider info here tonight? You could change your nic you know :Graucho

Heh, you just know those fuckers who sent traffic to bullshit sites like Atherton's Hilton site, knowing full well the surfer was getting bilked, would be the ones screaming the loudest if rebills went away.

from which "grapevine" did u get your source ?
nowt would surprise me though with adult billing these days,

Whenever someone says "something big is coming" I get nervous, tighten the budget and rarely sleep. Big news is rarely good news.

I could tell you, but Id have to kill you.

But seriously, its just a friend that heard it from a friend who has been doing this for ever. Pretty good source, but all he knows is something "big" is coming. For all I know, like steffie said, it WAS the fact that Ibill sold...but I dought it.

It wouldn't surprise me if 3rd party billers couldn't take high-risk accounts anymore such as adult. I doubht it would be the end of rebilling. It's just the end of 3rd party billing for adult sites probably.

There are no merchant services in the US anymore I don't think that will take adult sites, unless your bringing in over $100,000 a month. So adult 3rd party billing would be next I would think.

This is all speculation of course.

Interesting. I to, if id have to guess Id say 3rd party goes before re-bills. However, Im in the prosess of signing 3rd party with Ibill as we speak. If 3rd party is coming to an end in march, wouldnt Ibill advise me of this? They have nothing to lose by telling me, unless they are trying to get me as a client so I would go with them for a merchant account. Ahh, who the fuck knows.

Doctor Dre 02-11-2004 08:13 PM

If Ibill was sold for 130 millions I don'T think this is the end of 3rd party ;)

Maybe not in March, but that day WILL come. Members will have to be warned each month before they are rebilled.

GonePhishing 02-11-2004 08:16 PM

There always seems to be something these days, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

If it is no more high-risk merchants, it might be they can't take "new" high-risk accounts. Like the merchant services that don't take adult sites anymore, still keep their current high-risk clients. They just can't take new high-risk clients.

My last bump of the night. Keep it going peeps, I wanna make sure everone sees the topic.

3rd party will remain for awhile in the mainstream. But for the adult business, it's slowly coming to a end. iBill isn't advertising in the adult industry anymore I don't think.

tony286 02-11-2004 08:32 PM

I would like to know the thrill someone gets from making statements like this. Its like Rumsfield "Something terrible will happen we dont where and we dont know when". If you have info spit it out if not ,write about something worth while talking about. Trust me no one knows what the big cc companies are going to do except the big cc companies, I dont care if you have been in adult for 40 yrs.

Everyone gets scared about rebills going away but what have you done to help prevent this from happening or have you helped this happen:

Promoting Paris Hilton scams, prechecked cross sells or scams that fuck the surfers. Do you support these practices by signing up to be a afiliate to things you know fuck people ? To me if I made my living as a affiliate or tgp guy I wouldnt do that because the rebills stop most of your income will go with it.The problem in our industry is most only care about todays dollars and that will be our down fall.

3 rd party is not really needed in mainstream. If you sell mainstream items getting your own merchant account is a piece of cake or you can use paypal or yahoopayor whatever its called.

There are alot of companies using 2Checkout which is a mainstream only 3rd party biller. Especially in the hosting business. 3rd party billing is needed just as much in mainstream as in adult. Getting a adult merchant account used to be a piece of cake up until 2 years ago. But everybody was still using 3rd party billers.

This is not true. I knew that the 2 merchant services that were taking adult merchant accounts, were not going to anymore for the small guy. That was 2 months before it happened. People that do credit card processing know alot of things before the general public does.

MattO 02-11-2004 08:49 PM

There are some rumblings about, definately. I'm getting a lot of knocking on my door to place people out of the US for their merchant accounts.
