Any Reagan Republicans out here?
You know, the small government crowd.

Reagan is amazing!
I tend to agree with him. Assuming you have a system of laws that work, smaller government is the government that governs best. |
I liked some of his policies but not all.
|
I really do miss the small goverment folks. That is one of the few things that I have a problem with regarding Bush.
|
Nancy Reagan hates George W. Bush. Ron would beat him down. :1orglaugh
|
He is my favorite president!! :thumbsup

It is beyond me, as to why so many of these people are voting democrat, when the democrats do nothing but tell them how shitty their country is, how evil their neighbors are for wanting to keep their money in the bank, and how helping millions of innocent people overthrow their dictator government, is the WRONG and EVIL and TERRIBLE thing to do. America needs to wake up and be more optimistic about things, not so hesitant. The democrats get votes by telling idiots, how shitty their country is. Sad. |

It is not a Democratic agenda to focus on the bad, that is the agenda of the Press, which Republicans say is Democrat-controlled, and Democrats say is Republican-controlled. And the sole reason for that is because bad news equals good ratings. I'll agree that the problems facing the country are not that huge (except the national debt). But Republicans haven't done anything to fix them, and they have control over all 3 branches of the Government at the moment. I am an independant, and I don't like what either party has become in recent years. |
I believe in trickle down Reaganomics. You give me your money and I'll pee on you.

We lack to moral authority to tell the rest of the world what to do. We are the only first world country with no health insurance for it's people, we have the highest incarceration rate in the world and we get into everyone elses business. If we invested resources at home helping and educating our own people we could be a great country. |

The democrats DO bring out the bad in everything. They don`t agree with patriotic Americans, and they support bbending over and removing American historical values [such as the flag] so that they don`t offend some minority from a third world nation. This is not a country of black and white, its a country of freedom. When I picture the country tailoring to the needs of every minority, I picture huge government, and everything around us looking like plain cement. The national debt is not a problem. Its a live debt that can never be resolved, because its ALWAYS BEING ADDED TO. |

I liked Reagan much more than Bush. Yeah, his policy wasn't always the best, but was acceptable. Also, as a leader his speaking skills and international diplomacy was great.

Since I didn't approach the subject of the thread in my first post:
I like the idea of small government, there wouldn't be such a huge national debt or grievous tax burdern if we eliminated all the excess crap that has been added to the Fed. Govt. But Bush has presided over the largest government expansion in USA history, and the record of Republicans in recent time has shown a marked change in direction, away from what it used to stand for. Reagan was one of the major people responsible for that with his borrow and spend, trickle down economics. It's been proven that giving money to the rich does nothing but increase the size of the trophy. Bush's tax cuts have done nothing, the unemployment rate is still rising, and the economy is poor, just like when Reagan did it in the 80's. The old Republican platform was for balanced budgets, and that is what we need. Strangely enough, Democratic "move to the middle" strategy has adopted that creed. Bill Clinton balanced the budget and the country did great on it. Clinton did a lot of things I don't agree with too, but thats for another thread :winkwink: I liked Reagans personality, and some of his views, but his economic policy was terrible. |
They believe in a party, and change thier ideals as that party changes them to suit their policy.

You mean the recent 8% GDP growth rate was bullshit?

And the national debt is a huge problem, what happens when we start defaulting on our loans and countries stop investing in us? |

The Democrats are the Gods of Gerrymandering. They have carved up voting districts in shapes that have no geometrical names! They've been doing it for 80 years or more. |

Police state is bullshit, thats exactly the opposite of what i`m referring to. |

It's easy to balloon short term, just lower your costs (ie. lay off your employees, or move the labor overseas, or get elected officials to relax labor and environmental restrictions) The 2003 year ended with a net loss of 439,000 jobs. The "growth" is bogus. |
Quote:
Yeah, the economic growth will never happen, when everyone is afraid to take risks, because of the media cutting down every last hint of a growth. People like you saying " ah 8% is nothing " mmake other people think " oh, well i`ll sit on my mon ey a little longer then " |
I am a Reagan Baby!
One of the best presidents of the 20th Century. One of the great leaders of the 20th Century. |
the coolest thing about Reagan was Iran Contra. Stroke of political genius to arrange to have the Iranian hostages held until he's sworn in and then give that radical religious dictatorship WMD's, guaranteed Carter's downfall.
Also all those short-term high interest loans he took out to prop up the economy until he was out of office, which torpedoed Bush Sr.'s presidency. Yup, Reagan was an all time great, better than Nixon! |

I am not going to defend the media, since they are largely at fault and bastards to boot. If anything with the media, I personally feel that large networks should be broken down into smaller news outlets that rely on actual reporting, and no more slanted reporting (Left or Right). 8% isn't nothing, but it also has proved not to be sustained. When it happened I wasn't like "oh shit, this 8% is total crap" - I waited til the next set of numbers was released, and the 2003 year was finished to see if it was REAL growth, or just a spurt. I want good things to happen in America as much as you do, I just don't think it's fair to cover that 8% with non-stop praise when half a million of my neighbors are shat upon in order to get that number. |

fucking dumbasses with the right to vote are what's wrong with this country. just an FYI: the whole purpose of the constitution was to ensure that we didn't have a tyranny of the majority in this country, that it remained a place where you could be free to do as you will so long as nobody else was harmed. JESUS they doublespeak and you just eat it up. Nauseating. |
