Charitable Contributions

I am just curious how many webmasters on GFY use some of there money (or resources) to help charitable organizations. Personally, I know I never really gave much until about last month (but it took something life threatening to bring about this change in myself).

So come on good Samaritans. Wow me!

Everyone should give to non-profit organizations.

You can start with some of the groups that defend the First Amendment and support your right to publish adult material.

Even right wingers can do it, it's a tax write off so they can still get something for themselves out of it. :1orglaugh

Yikes. It has been a couple hours and there has been only one reply. Not too much for the greater good. Not like I was any different. I mean, it took me getting a brain tumor to change my habits.

Therefore, I guess I am going to be self-righteous and explain that it is my opinion that everyone should contribute to medical research. Economically, it is the most intelligent solution IMHO. Create cures and treatments for the biggest and most damaging diseases and you increase overall economic welfare which leads to a higher quality of life for everyone.

Its kind of one of those things that yea, you are giving away your income but economically your helping to get it back and then some. My currently invoked philanthropic activities involve giving 10% of my income to medical research. It may sound like a lot but it is not much and probably has tax benefits.

Greedy and don?t want to give money? Fine, I mean, 2 months ago I would not have either but you can still do things. For example, there are many distributed computing projects that lend there time to medical research. Folding at home uses its power, which comes from your computers idle time, to better grasp how proteins fold. Look through there solved problem sets and you see many references to proteins linked to cancer. Not a bad way to spend your wasted idle computer time.

I have actually found there client to be a bit ugly (although it has not lead to any problems on my computers part). If you do not want it just use the Google toolbar. Its built in all you have to do is activate it.

P.S. If you decide to donate or use one of these clients, leave a note.

:thumbsup
