Yeah i use the linksys G cards in both my laptops. They are awesome, great upload and download speeds too. I've also got the the Linksys G rated router.

Don't you need extra security, so someone doesn't intercept your wireless network info? That shit worries me.

you're asking me? don't, I'm severly retarded
all I know is I see Road Runner pushing this wireless shit on tv all the time now

austinth 02-11-2004 01:48 PM

I use Shaw Cable, and yes I use wep, and you also should change the username and password to the router. Most people don't even bother to change from the default and this where the biggest problem with security is in a wireless network.

For that you need to call up the wireless carriers in your area i know here in chicago t-mobile has wireless service and verizon also i dont remeber he rates tho looked into it once and was not interested because it was like $300 for the pcmcia card that you put in your laptop which is overpriced by my opinion but prices might have gone down since then.

SleazyDream 02-11-2004 03:32 PM

i think you might mean a high speed cell phone card ?

i sell the card that retails for 300 or so for tmobile for only 100. If you get a contract I do it for 50. Those prices should help you for shooping for a mobile solution. For a Office or Home go with G.

My new laptop is coming in 7 days. Complete with wireless internet. Can't wait to get a hold of it.

In our country the Government has passed plans to have wireless internet things placed on street lights every 150m apart!!

Soon we're gonna be able to use laptops anywhere!

pornguy 02-11-2004 04:16 PM

Just go to best buy and get the linksys card. Linksys is made by cisco, who makes the routers that most of the server companies use. The are rock solid..

Just getting the card does nothing for you unless you have a place to connect to. It works like any other LAN....

You take the connection from the wall and plug it into the router.. the wirless should pick up the signal... the sit on the shitter if you want..

We were out with our laptop that came with built in wireless and found an open connection in the downtown area where we live. It is free to use and running at 11mbps. Very nice...
