If you bank with ANZ they will clear a Platinum bucks Check Immediately.

They do this because if it bounces you have to pay them back the value of the check PLUS $30 penalty fee.
So they come out on top anyway.

I've put platinum bucks checks into ANZ and walked out to the ATM and taken the cash out 2 minutes later.

you mean plat pays you enough to even cut a cheque?

or is it rolled over for each month?

shit thats news to me (thanks for the info)

but then again i use commonwealth (i might raise this issue with the CBA see if they can do the same)

i doubt it though even cheques withing australia take 2 working days to clear

i doubt they would offer this lol

Yep the only ones Ive found that do it are ANZ
We've got accounts with all major banks and number of credit unions
but use ANZ for the odd check or two

Commonwealth are pretty slack ass

actually i havent tried checks with Bendigo bank yet
might give them a shot and see how they do

PS - DOn't know if this works for amounts over 10K most I've tried with an O/seas check is $8K

before the colonial state bank was taken over by CBA they used to allow u to widthdraw funds immediatley also (walk out ..use ATM and get the money from checks u deposited) they also only charged me $10 for as many checks as i was depositing, most was around 30 in 1 go. The CBA has advised me to have a friend or relative open an account in my name with a US bank and deposit the check through an agent of that US bank inside Australia... i'm yet to look further into that.
