so, I called paypal about the EU service agreement
because I just got an email saying they go into effect tomorrow. I have been trying to email them about it but keep getting form letter replies.
My problem is they are saying that they won't allow people based in the EU to use US based bank account (and now) credit cards to make paypal payments.
In the email I saw this paragraph:
"If your primary address is in the US, please update your address to reflect this. This will ensure the continuation of your customer relationship with PayPal Inc. beyond 12 February 2004. To update your address, log in to your PayPal account and click 'Profile' to access the relevant link. "
I think, brilliant, I do have a US mailing address so I will just go in an change that like it says you can because the US address is actually the billing address to my card too. Well, yeah except that it won't let you because the country field is fixed and you can't change it.
So, I sigh, pick up the phone and call them. To his credit the guy who picked up the phone was very polite and trying to be helpful.
However, when I told him I got this email he said 'but the new rules don't start for another week'. I told him that the email I just had said they start on the 12th..which where I am is tomorrow. He says 'oh really, I wasn't even told there were going to be changes at all until today'
Good staff training there. So, he is apparently going to get back to me. We shall see.
